It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

The Sabres 4/30 deal was confirmed at least a month ago. It's old news.

Nothing new is happening.

My neighbor came over and I had to break his heart by telling him it was old news

7.5 is a lot, but I'd like to see Doan or some other top-end offensive talent signed. I still see a lack of offense being a huge problem if Roy is replaced by Hodgson and they rush in an 18 year old.

Except the Sabres. This isn't just a rumor. Good sources have said that we're the team that offered him that money.

It's been confirmed in the media multiple times, the most recent by Bucci.

It's legit.

This is disappointing to realize that Pegula and Regier are willing to throw stupid contracts around like this. If it's for a fresh UFA with near guaranteed performance like Parise then fine, but not for a 35+ player that can retire or stink and get sent to Rochester and still be a cap anchor no matter what. Doan's numbers have never been worth 7.5 mil and it's highly skeptical to think his leadership is worth that much. I'd say Dave Tippett has had MUCH more to do with Phoenix' success than Doan. Besides, I really don't think Buffalo is close enough for Doan (by production or leadership) to push them into being a legit Cup contender right now.

In a season or two Buffalo will be in a better position, but will Doan really be the difference at that point, or will it be top notch young talent panning out? The extra 2-3 mil caught up in Doan's contract would just take away from a solid roster spot elsewhere. I hope Doan keeps up with simply using Buffalo's offer as leverage against other GMs and doesn't actually consider signing it.

Agreed 1980.
I don't want this guy for 1 year at $4M. Guess how I feel about 4 years for $7.5M per.
