I know there are some B1G fans on here and I would like to personally thank you for the estimated 150 million dollars that will come our way during the first year of our tenure in your conference. ACC is a bunch of fucking idiots if they don't make some serious moves here. Don't be surprised if 'Cuse dips the ACC and heads to the B1G, along with another team. I am just happy that Maryland can expand itself, potentially, in athletics down the road. But, mostly, I am happy that they have entered into a pretty prestigious research community.

One of my questions is does the B1G have a lacrosse conference in place or do they play independent. Reason I ask is because I know that Ohio State has a pretty decent team but i am unaware of any others. Now we are pretty lackluster in the football department but at least we bring in good Olympic quality athletes, excellent research based departments, and a pretty stout and historical basketball program.

welcome to the era of watered down superconferences. this move was stupid and it just cheapens the rivalries and the division and creates stupid schedules where you only host every team in the big 10 every 5 years.

the next thing to happen is that they'll put ohio state and michigan in an every-other or third year. durrrrr

There will be subdivisions that will keep current rivalries intact due to the fact that current teams being allowed in are east coast based. So your Rutgers, UMD, and Penn St. will be placed in one while the Mid Westerns will keep their schedules mainly intact. Maryland being in the ACC and already adding teams had to deal with the loss of rivalries. Maryland only playing Duke and UNC in basketball once a year is a travesty. Should be home and away every year.

LOLWUT?

The ACC is losing Maryland, but GAINING Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Notre Dame. What other 'big moves' do you want? Also, you're high if you think Syracuse would go through all that shit to leave the Big East just to do it again to leave the ACC before they even join.

Notre Dame basketball is fairly good. They've competitive in the Big East for a while.

Basketball was reason for this whole schmozle.

The funny thing here is that, providing Nebraska beats Iowa, you will want to personally kiss Nebraska's feet when they face Ohio State for the Big 10 Championship!

You're obviously still high. First of all learn to spell guarantee. Next, there is no way Florida ever lets FSU into the SEC, because it will hurt their football recruiting. Lastly, why would Clemson and Georgia Tech pay $50 million to leave the ACC for a conference that doesn't want them?

Also, ND will be a full member of the ACC in every sport, except football, where they will play 5 ACC teams yearly.

Look I know this thing came out of nowhere, and you're in Maryland, so this is a big deal. But, trust me. Slow down the brain, and let yourself digest all this before making these crazy conclusions.

Well, there is no ACC hockey conference, so I would imagine they can still play who they want to. Also, ND has gotten really good at lacrosse, too. Going to the ACC makes ACC lax even better...until Maryland leaves that is. I hope Maryland lax still plays UVA, UNC and Duke in the regular season. It would be a shame if they don't.

I haven't read much into UMD's agreement but is it possible to play as an Independent? Much the way that Johns Hopkins or the other smaller schools around Maryland that are only D1 in lacrosse. I would think they would at least make an attempt to play independent.

That's a good question. There is no Big 10 lax conference now, but UMD doesn't join for another 2 years, so by then who knows? Here's a Washington Post article that talks about it.

They already signed to Hockey East last year since the CCHA was folding.

yeah, i know. i felt like had notre dame sacked up and joined the big 10, they could have been an asset to the big 10 hockey conference. those are major MAJOR hockey programs who they wont face come conference play anymore.
