Makorov or Knapp will back him up.
Only other goalies signed to contracts so far.
Sky, you made the case in the Sabres Draft thread that we were fine in net, and we didn't need to draft Fucale, and I didn't buy it then, and I don't buy it now.
Well, now Leggio's gone, and not only are we thin in Buffalo in one year or less (with Miller's departure a given), but we're thin in Rochester, also.
Enlighten us. Tell us why we should be happy about our future in net.
Because Leggio was never going to stay, we all knew that. We also have two more goalie prospects either playing overseas or still in the minors.
Miller, if we move him or not we will not be thin at goalie. We have 7 goalies in the system if we trade Miller. But as of right now we have 8 goalies. We have our starter and backup in the NHL in Miller and Enroth, we have our starter and backup in the AHL with Hackett and most likely Makarov. We have Knapp, Ullmark, and Liewen, and our newly drafted Peterson.
How the hell are we thin on goalies?
Ullmark is already playing against men in the SEL and posted up great numbers. Makarov, well we will see how he does next year in the AHL behind Hackett. And Enroth is capable enough right now. Are we going to have Miller-esque numbers from anyone else, who knows. But our future will still lie in Hackett. Most likely we will lose Ullmark and Makarov in the future as they can very well be NHL starters by then.
Then again, when you already have the future of your team drafted or traded for in the system, why waste a high draft pick on a guy you never intend on starting? Especially if you have 6 other guys in the system to evaluate right away and you have much dire needs at other positions to fill in the draft. Fucale won't start on the Canadiens unless something terrible happens to Price, it would be the same story here if we extend Miller, or even our other goalies.

As I said in the GDT, the call on Rivet was horseshit. The Bruins player was holding onto Rivet's stick like it was the last fucking raft on the Titanic.
