some numbers to ponder while you scramble to solve.

(2)-60-(18) [21]
(18)-78-(19) [13]
(19)-154-(16) [5]
(16)-154-(19) [1]

difficult. too difficult perhaps. some maybe added in the future. then again may be not.

Hmmmmmmm?

Well taking the first line of numbers and adding them to make a number within the alphabet does nothing but it gives these numbers and letters, but it's nothing.
8-6-2-11-5-4-7-5-9-10-6-10
H-F-B-K-E-D-G-E-J-F-J
Multiplying them gives these
15-9-1-24-6-3-12-6-8-8-9-9-21
O-F-A-X-F-C-L-F-H-H-I-I-U

Doesn't give anything useful.

It's not so simple, although it is. You have to be sly to figure it out. Or perhaps a little crazy. Think similes and you'll be on the right track. Find the right phrase and the confusion goes away.

i wont tell you. but i can say what ive seen.

ive seen a namesake of the third captain in person. at least that's what most think. a little nerdiness will reveal he's actually the thirteenth. the alphabet should turn a few gears in the mind.

I did a few and, like you realized it was kind of nonsensical. So I started trying to figure out the poem or whatever you want to call it above. The clue to the clue I suppose. Any ideas? Where's Schony? She's good at looking at things a variety of ways and lobbing out different ideas.

This looks really fun, and I hope I have the smarts to get involved.

I just read over the past 2 games and I'm amazed at some of the detective work.

I'll do my best!

The more the better. Usually if one person can't figure it out, someone gets someone else thinking, which gets someone else thinking, and ideas multiply.

13th letter of the alphabet is M.

A namesake is essentially a nick name based on a real name.

Who was the third captain in Sabres history? And how would he actually be the 13th? Is he 13th in some other category for the Sabres?

Looking at this further, the number that's in brackets [ ] is the first number of the top line, plus the last number of the 2nd line.

So, 2+19=21.

University of Buffalo! Intelligent! The Assassin is talking about someone who goes to school at UB!

Who goes to the University of Buffalo on this forum?

The assassin capitalized Understand, You, Become, Be, and Business.

UB
BU
You be?

I think there are at least six or seven. I wonder about the ambiguity of the wording. The assassin doesn't say if its a clue about their victim, or a clue to their victim (and others) to ward off death. Maybe the assassin goes, or even went to UB? I think if we add alumni the list grows a little bit.

So we've got some numbers that as of yet don't make sense, and an apparent connection to UB.

And a guest sitting in this thread. O hai! u iz in r threds, killin r peeps?

At the top, he says my victim. So I think he's talking about his next victim, not himself.

Third Captain = Jim Schoenfeld. Namesake = SchonyGal
I think we're way ahead of ourselves though. Remember to keep clues to the victim and clues to the assassin separate.

And now I have to go back and read all the stuff that's been posted since I started writing this ;)

A namesake is also just a person with the same name as another. We're thinking a bit too hard. What do you think the alphabet has to do with it...A...B...C...D...E...

...not seeing any connection, haha.

Maybe someone can post every clue, assassin or victim in one post? I'm not good with the multiquoting.
