I tried something today:

low E="A", F="B", F-sharp/G-flat= "C", G="D", G-sharp/A-flat="E" ..... and the high E = "Y";

I get: YWRLIAAICTLIDEOSTGHDENNIEODD

Irony's name is almost in there, just 1 "S" is missing. Someone should check if I made a mistake.

PS: It could be that the high E = "A" and the low E = "Y". I didn't try.

maybe irony?

I'm not sure but the red ones might be incorrect

You're right... shoot.

I haven't worked with sheet music since high school.

You are incorrect about the last G-Sharp being a no sharp. When a sharp (or flat) is set at the beginning of a measure, it continues through that measure. The Natural sign at the end lets the musician know to make it natural again for that note.

In the second measure there is a sharp at the beginning. Does that mean that the flat within this measure becomes natural again?
What if there is a sharp at the beginning of the measure and then another sharp in the same measure (double sharp? :) )?

In general, the only time a sharp or flat is carried through an entire piece of music is if it's defined to the right of the clef designation (the key of the piece). When a sharp or flat is defined in a measure, it is ONLY carried through that measure, once a new measure starts then it resets to the key of the piece. Using the assassins clue, there are 4 measures, the key is in C (no sharps or flats). The only flat or sharp you have to worry about carrying through a measure is for the last measure, where the sharp carries from the first quarter note G to the third quarter note G. This is then made natural again for the 4th quarter note G.

Nice job ;) If only one letter is off, we have other possibilities. I think the safest bet is to protect those with a "y" in their name or the ones that appear reasonable. Irony looks pretty darned close though.

If we're working on a musical clue here, I'd like to point out that "Irony Is a Dead Scene" is an album by The Dillinger Escape Plan.

i was trying to think simple about this, does any member have a musical name, a musical user name, or actively talk about music (like go out of their way to talk about music). the first two maybe more prominent. just another shot in the dark guess (literally i thought of it before i fell asleep so a shot in the dark as i was in the dark lol).

What about the second measure, there is a sharp before the first note?

That designates that all those notes will be sharp for that measure only, unless the note is designated as a natural note.

It's not relevant, however, because there are no more low F's in that measure to worry about.
