Sooooo I got here yesterday and then stayed overnight last night at someone's house because the dorms only opened today... I came down in a van with a bunch of random kids from New York and the parents of one of them... And uhhhh. That house was freaking sweet. It was basically a mansion and absolutely gorgeous inside. Woodwork everywhere, oh my goodness. Biggest house I've ever personally been in. Place was huge. The guy showed me to my guest room, and after he left I did some snooping in various other rooms because I am a total snoop when I go to someone's house for the first time (not to be particularly nosy, just want to see what everything looks like and where everything is and really get a feel for it; I don't care to know personal things lol).... Lovely, lovely.

It's a house I've always noticed whenever I go past it because it's so freaking HUGE, especially in comparison to the typical Indiana box house that is the size of a garage (I've been elsewhere and know that that style is not unique to this area hahaha), and even in comparison to some of the big houses in Amherst and OP, and when we pulled into the driveway I was like    ...........

I suppose I should also add that he was the best host ever. Kind, kind man. Genuinely kind.

Every time someone has a pet that dies and posts about it on Facebook, as long as it's not a dog, I like it. If it's a dog I will offer my condolences. Hahaha I'm so biased.

I like when people break up, too, if I know the relationship didn't last that long. And when people lose their jobs if I know it won't hurt them, really. Basically, I like things that look inappropriate to like, and are socially speaking, but really aren't if you think about it.

I won't like when relatives or friends die, though. I think that's too harsh. :?

I am so relieved right now.

When I did my taxes ('cause I get them out of the way early), I noticed that I was missing, like... a thousand dollars. I save all the money I make and regularly check my checking and savings accounts, and I knew that I had never had that much in there... Soooo I freaked out a little bit but couldn't figure it out. I asked my mother if she'd borrowed a nice sum of money from me because sometimes my parents do that, but typically they pay me back ASAP... so it would be a little weird to have not yet been paid back for something that happened in the summer.

Well, just got off the phone with my mother, and I apparently forgot to deposit the checks I got from both my jobs at the end of June. She found them on top of the fridge buried under who knows what and deposited them today, and they hadn't expired (well, they never have/had expiration dates on them, sooooo).

Yeah, had to share because it's such a relief. I'm going to have money to pay for books wooo! I only made like $400 over the break, which is enough considering what I have in savings in addition to that, but I'm going to be away for the majority of next summer so it needs to last me quite a while... and it wouldn't, not with having to pay for the food my meal plan doesn't cover. Plus, you know, I want to buy a car after I graduate, so my savings have to accumulate throughout school.

Also this is accurate for me, which is weird because most things outside of professional psychological personality tests aren't unless they're really general... and most things are so that people can be like, "OH WOW THAT IS SO TOTALLY ME," when really it describes everyone lol. I just don't worry, ever. Or interfere, ever. Aaaand being dedicated to certain things certainly doesn't detract from my, uh, uniqueness. But other than that, weeee.

Haha, last I heard your best bet is to let the computer draw your number, I think the stat is around 70% of all winners the numbers were drawn randomly.

A dollar a week is nothing, if that dollar could turn into 50 million.

Yeah, but the odds are staggering. 52 weeks a year * 70 years is 3640 weeks. I don't know how the lottery works, but it's something like sevel slots of numbers 1-40.

So your odds are still 1 in 45,010,989

I just randomly thought of Rigoletto (the movie) today. I want to watch it again. That was one of my favorite movies... It was a big part of my childhood before I discovered Star Wars.

Quote:
Rigoletto, set in Depression-era America, stars Joseph Paur as Ribaldi/Rigoletto and Ivey Lloyd as Bonnie, a young girl who is gifted with a beautiful singing voice.

When a mysterious man arrives in town and buys the mortgage on Bonnie's house, threatening her family with eviction, Bonnie agrees to work for him as a servant in exchange for allowing her family to keep their home. At first, Bonnie believes the man, Ribaldi, is a monster due to his physical deformity (his face is badly scarred and he is forced to use a cane) and his cold, angry demeanor. When Bonnie finds Ribaldi giving a beautiful young woman music lessons, she realizes that he is a gifted musician and a kind, misunderstood person. Meanwhile, many townspeople are being evicted from their homes, and suspect the mysterious Ribaldi of ruining their lives. The angry villagers begin to spread rumors about Ribaldi and believe that he is a monster. The village children, on the other hand, are drawn to Ribaldi, and he delights in playing with them and giving them presents.

Throughout the film, the sick and handicapped people of the village are miraculously healed, and farmers receive large amounts of money from an anonymous donor. Porter, a young boy with a stutter, is healed after visiting Ribaldi and looking into his "magic mirror", which Ribaldi claims will help him with his problems.

The townspeople threaten to keep Bonnie from singing in the state singing competition unless she stops visiting Ribaldi. Bonnie tells Ribaldi she will not leave him, but he tells her that to abandon the competition would waste all their hard work, and insists that Bonnie forget about him and follow her dream. Ribaldi's butler, Hans, on hearing how devoted to Ribaldi Bonnie is, asks his master if she is "the one". Ribaldi confesses that he believes she is.

In the climax of the film, while Bonnie is singing in the competition, Ribaldi is visited by Georgie, a young girl from the village, and he offers to walk her home. Along the way, Georgie falls into a river, and Ribaldi saves her. When he tries to bring the unconscious girl into town, he is attacked by the townspeople, who believe he has harmed Georgie. Afterward they destroy Ribaldi's home in search of evidence that he has been taking their homes and land. Instead of this proof, however, they find lists of people Ribaldi has helped by secretly paying for their medical treatments and paying off their farms.

Bonnie wins the singing competition, and returns home to find that Ribaldi has died from the injuries incured by the townspeople.

I just random scenes from that movie play in my head at work today, and I was like, "What?" I seriously haven't seen it since I was six at the oldest. I freaking loved that movie when I was 4-5, though. Not surprised I turned out the way I did, considering that.

Also, Beauty and the Beast (which has been my favorite Disney movie ever since I saw it lol) is a rip off of the folktale that that movie is also a rip off of; Rigoletto is not a rip off of Beauty and the Beast.

lol I just ordered the DVD. Finding a place online that sells it new was DIFFICULT. Apparently it's discontinued WHAT. It's got a five-star rating on Amazon fah cryin' out loud. Wanted to save a gift card/credit card an uncle gave me for Christmas, which I just received two days ago, and buy food and other lame necessary crap with it, but I don't think he'd like that very much, so I bought that and proceeded to get rid of the rest of the money on it.

Finding this post again was almost as difficult as finding the DVD. "Doo doo doo go through pages, stop scrolling when hit a long post de mi."
