[quote="acrossthelines"]It took me about a year of lurking before I jumped in at the original board. It's really fun the first time someone disagrees with you and contradicts a post of yours. Then you know you belong. :D
quote]

I remember the first time that happened, I had a OHSHITNOES moment and then moved on. Now that I think about it, it was probably a board asshole telling me i was wrong for no apparent reason...

I like the familial feel of this board, but I fear that it may be (or may become) a bit cliquey and a bit daunting to outsiders to break into "the big group."

i feel your right. however that happens with every consistent gathering of people.

the new people will have to grow some balls and jump in....and stay out of the politics thread for a while...

:P Very astute analysis of my post.

a lot of us when through it when we joined the original boards. i know i did. it was daunting to join the likes of phil, ice, etc, etc. (haha). with their multi thousand post counts, knowing peoples names IRL, and absurd amount of knowledge about hockey but if i, or anyone else, didnt grow a pair then we wouldnt be here now.

luckily this is a good group we have here and to not be welcomed you pretty much have to be an utter douche from the start. ive been to other forums for things that if your new and post in the wrong section your post gets deleted and you essentially get a message saying your a dumbass. its not like that here.

is that a better :D

ATL, rarely have i had a paper due a week after i thought it was suppose do be. the other way around, that happened more often.

From my first post to now, I have learned so much about the game of hockey just from the likes of those who had mutli thousand post counts on the old board.

Thanks to the board I grew to love hockey so much I really want to play it, and will play it.

Also It's been in the 60's and 70's for the past week here, but I'm in NC, it's only going to get hotter from now on, it was probably close to 80 today actually. Been wearing shorts and flip flops for like three weeks finally.

I really like blogging, but I just am not feeling the standard themes anymore. Might be time to sink some money into the thing and register and map my own domain name and go hog wild with my blog's CSS and save the design. I'm HTML dense so it's gonna be like Stephen Hawking masturbating in a penalty box.

awesome.

most, if not all, of the hosting sites have the "page builder" option that you can buy from them. GoDaddy (where i host) has that option. i didnt use it since i have Adobe Dreamweaver and know the basics for it.

I've got a copy too, but I haven't had the time to learn it.

The dichotomistic thinking and forced polarization present in just about every nuance of American culture (it's probably present in most cultures, actually) is really rather obnoxious. Human behavior is too complex for that.

I predicted the fire drill tonight and didn't take a shower until after it happened. MUAHAHA.

Yesterday morning I knew that I would get walked in on while getting dressed, and I did (that hadn't ever happened before then). One of my professors had all of us except one person in the class close our eyes yesterday, too, and the person who kept his eyes open had to explain to us what letter was drawn on the board so we'd know what it is without seeing it... I knew it would be a capital A as he was telling us what to do, and it was. I am psychic lately hahaha.

No, that's just how I talk. If you get me into a discussion in person, I will very frequently sound like a textbook. It's a problem. Hahaha.

 Absolutely not, but I had just observed it in person about ten minutes or so before I posted that, in the form of my intentions being misinterpreted yet again because the people who did it were looking at my actions through their perspective, which for those particular people is interested purely in shoving people into this box or that box based on one circumstance, one instance. Basically they took my disagreement with something they had said as a personal attack in a roundabout way (there was more to it than that, and I don't want to patronize or misrepresent the others involved), and the reasoning for that was made clear in how they explained their views of certain concepts that served as presuppositions for their ridiculous assumptions (that's harsh, but they really were absolutely ridiculous when applied to me and showed how little they, who have known me for nearly two years, actually understand me, if at all).
