Beth's pretty much got it, but I'd rather do it face to face. Unless you did something illegal or heinous (like looked up pron at work) a company can get in deep shit for giving a bad recommendation that prevents you from landing a job.

Well, I think it's important to get everything in writing just so you're not fucked. If it's written and dated, it is proof. You don't want to anything to end in a dispute.

I should add that you shouldn't just drop that right on your manager's desk and expect him/her to find it; you should go up to them and tell them it's your two week notice and tell them you were happy to work for them, etc. Don't be a pussy and leave it for them to find.

Yeah, that's a good point. Some companies will try and dick you at every turn, especially if you're leaving.

Torche had their van broken into after playing a show in Chicago. Their instruments, several laptops, their passports and many personal belongings were stolen. They've had to cancel several shows and any shows the tour they're on with Coheed and Cambria had planned in Canada due to their passports being stolen.
