are you sure the guy wasn't just so drunk that he was simply stabbing a taxi driver that just so happened to be a muslim, not the other way around? stranger things have happened...

Maybe you could trouble yourself to read the articles, instead of just playing contrarian.

Quote:
He "started out friendly, asking Mr. Sharif about where he was from, how long he had been in America, if he was Muslim and if he was observing fast during Ramadan," said Desai, who has spoken with the cab driver.
Then, after a few minutes of silence, Desai said Enright started violently cursing at Sharif and shouted "Assalamu Alaikum, consider this a checkpoint," before slashing him in the throat, arms, and hand.

Yeah, that's clearly a random attack by a drunk guy.....

Well. There we go. Here goes the random violence and Muslim Americans are being punished for nothing.

No, he's just a REALLY bad bigot.

I get the distinct impression his time spent filming in Afghanistan was the catalyst here.
I don't think this is your garden variety bigotry towards a race or religion...this guy was touched.

I can understand that...he might be suffering from shell shock, or whatever they are calling it these days. But I really can't find much empathy for a person who stabs a perfectly innocent Muslim immigrant who was minding his own business and just trying to make a living in this country.

Oh I've got no pity for this dirtbag either, I just think there's more to his motivations than most people are thinking.

My thoughts are that I hope Cross is right about this guy being a bit touched from his time in the desert.

i did read the article(s), and i came to the conclusion that any other person probably would have: stupid shit happens. wordplay is something i find very enjoyable, and though it may seem insensitive at times, i really don't find there to be anything equivocating it with this particular situation by any means.

in other words, i expect things like this to happen. am i making light of it? perhaps. it happened, though, and that is all i have to say on the matter. i do like how every comment is nitpicked and reduced to the same "contrarian" argument you accuse me of, though.
