Questions for librarians? This is great! I thought Google put all the librarians out of business.

Here is my question, Mr. or Ms. Librarian - How long is now?

We can divide time into the past, the future, and the present. The past and the future can be further divided an infinite number of ways - millenia, centuries, years, hours, seconds, etc. The present, however, is undivided. It is the exact instant of time where the past and the future meet, so how long is that sliver of time? Is it a second? A fraction of a second? A nanosecond? Is it no time at all?

How long is now?

Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow's a mystery.
And today is a gift.
That's why they call it the present.

I'll eat Jim McMahon's headband if Mike Ditka came up with that quote.

lol.
I never gave it a thought before, but I just looked it up and you're right. It's Bill Keane's quote, except Bill Keane's version is "a gift from God". (I did hear it from Ditka at least)

Other Ditka-ism's that may or may not be original:

Keep your eye on the road, not the rear-view mirror.

Vision with no action is a daydream, action with no vision is a nightmare.
