This thread is dedicated to posting touching, heart warming videos of school children being taught to express love and admiration for President Obama. We all know how important it is for children to have positive heroes that give them hope, so it's incredibly reassuring to see so many teachers and schools across the country are making sure that their young students choose to revere our inspiring leader, President Obama.

There are many, many videos out there to share, so I've chosen to start with the most recent one I could find. :romance-interracial:

Videos of students being taught in schools to express reverence and affection for George W. Bush are certainly welcome, too! It's all about hope and love here.

To the tune of Hey Look Me Over, about 100 young children from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama sang:

Our country’s stood beside us
People have sent us aid.
Katrina could not stop us, our hopes will never fade.
Congress, Bush and FEMA
People across our land
Together have come to rebuild us and we join them hand-in-hand!

I've said before that I don't think any teacher should impart their political leanings on their students. It's not right at all.

Didn't spark all this outrage when it happened to the last guy though.

It's certainly a nice gesture when meeting with the First Lady to sing a song praising the President for providing emergency aid, but it's not nearly as profound as when children are being taught to revere the President in school as part of the education process. I think we should embrace how all over the country teachers are making students into believers of President Obama from such an early age! :)

Those children sang praises to a Democratic congress simultaneously....and Laura Bush was standing in front of them.
Not the same, and that's the only example anyone can ever produce about Bush...I can find pages on youtube of children singing to Obama....for no apparent reason.

I don't even know why I bother to say anything in the Politics forums. You guys are clearly not interested in any kind of debate, just that you are right, and any counterpoints have circumstances which makes them invalid in your view.

It's why political discourse in this country is fucking garbage. God damn ideology over substance. Scream and yell about everything the guy you don't like does, and ignore it when your guy does the same thing.

Squanto, your screaming, swearing and yelling is the first and only screaming, swearing and yelling in this thread so far. Both myself and Crosscheck have been very calm and respectful. Anyway, why get do upset in a thread about hope? Why not share a video and feel the love!

Yup, the only "debates" in this forum seem to center around whether Obama is the anti-Christ, or just a mere baby-killing demon. It's sad really.

I see no respect at all. I see two reasonable people who will go out of their way to find fault in anything surrounding the current President, be it his actions, or anyone else's.

This whole children singing thing is a joke. The original video was shot during Black History Month. Nobody had a word to say about it until some blogger posted about it, and the Fox News Echo Chamber drummed it up into a news story. Now everyone and their brother is comes out with another video. How many of these are astroturfed vids created to spin up more manufactured controversy?

It annoys me to no end that there isn't a SINGLE THING related to the current administration that you guys will say anything positive about. NOTHING. And there's no way you've hated everything he's done. Christ, you're hating on what these teachers are doing, AND I AGREE WITH YOU THAT IT SHOULDN'T BE DONE.

There were things that Bush did that I didn't like or agree with. There were things that he did that I did like and agree with. It infuriates me when intelligent people (and yes, I consider both of you intelligent people) throw objectiveness out the window for the sake of ideology.

It doesn't do any good. I don't like it when the right does it, and I don't like it when the left does it either.

That's all I saw for the last 6 or so years from the Left...I don't see how being partisan is bad.
Sadly, political arguments do get lopsided when one side takes their ball and goes home however ;)

How about trying the Global warming topic? No Obama bashing or screaming in that one.

Well am I "the left"? Sure, I fucking hated Bush and think he was the worst president of my lifetime, but if you read my posts, you'll also hear me lambaste democrats and tell you what a corporate whore Bill Clinton was in office.

Being partisan is bad if it leads to ideology over substance, as Squanto said. It's also bad if it blinds you to the blunders of your own "side" and keeps you from holding "your" side to the same standards. I don't recall allowing my hatred for Bush to affect me in that way.

Anti-Bush propaganda and nothing but would be just as boring, and just as futile. If you think that's all the discussions on the old forums were, I'd have to say I disagree.

Once Republicans develop any sort of power in Washington again you better believe I'd be critical of them when necessary.
I don't really see the point right now do you?

And as far as "taking my ball and going home", well yeah eventually I'll give up if there's no actual give and take. Just like eventually I stopped trying to convince Bowler that Miller was a better goaltender than Biron. You and ETC are becoming more Bowleresque by the week on these political boards. You're turning into cartoon characters that repeat the latest anti-Obama rhetoric you hear on Rush or Fox or wherever, and it becomes like trying to argue with Bowler. Honestly would you keep putting effort into such a situation if you felt that way?

Now wait a minute...

Sure I have a negative view of Obama and his policies, but look at the threads I've started here...most of them aren't about Obama at all.
The only one where I really get pissed at Obama is the one about Afghan troop levels and I clearly explain why. I wouldn't categorize that as anti-obama rhetoric.
I'm not running around saying he's a secret Muslim who was born in Africa.

No better or worse than forcing kids into an institution that promotes the unyielding worship of an invisible man, a zombie and a spectre.

Maybe 2 different political sub-topics. REAL political threads, and cynical political threads. It's really hard to intelligently debate cynicism.

"Your tax Dollars at Work"
"Give those tax credits back"
"Barrack is too busy"
"CBO: Public option will have higher premiums"

Only that last one isn't really about Obama, and then I'm sure there's not much Barrack love to speak of in that one.

And yes, the Bowler analogy was a little unfair, but I'm sure it got the point across.

Hey, wait a minute, I had a video I would watch over and over again...............
It was Monica Lewinski, but no matter how many times I watched it, my firm "grasp" of the video never delivered the "erupting" joy it was supposed to. As a matter of fact, my friend (lets call him VIAGRA) ;)
couldn't even help me to truly "peak" my love that I sooooooooooooo wanted to free.

Oh well, just goes to show ya a good cigar and some free time really make the difference :).
Where in the world is good old Bill Clinton when we need him, the kids could truly learn to love his videos and even give a few pointers. (Hey Mr. President, STOP FUCKIN UGLY CHICKS) :)
