Harry (soon to be former Senate majority leader) Reid has just had some off color comments outed in a new book and he promptly and profusely apologized so you know it must be true.

He described candidate Obama as "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."

Don't worry though we won't hear from Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton on this one because Reid is a Democrat.

On a related note, I may get this book...apparently it contains scathing inside information on everyone in the last election from Hillary to Palin.

I'm sure Barry is going to demand his party run Reid out on a rail for this.
He's a consistent man of principles right?

Quote:
Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D-13th), who hosted WVON's Cliff Kelley Show, challenged the Republican Party to repudiate Lott's remarks and to call for his resignation as senate leader.

"It seems to be that we can forgive a 100-year-old senator for some of the indiscretion of his youth, but, what is more difficult to forgive is the current president of the U.S. Senate (Lott) suggesting we had been better off if we had followed a segregationist path in this country after all of the battles and fights for civil rights and all the work that we still have to do," said Obama.

He said: "The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party."

--From the December 12, 2002 issue of the Chicago Defender.

...and Lott never used the term "negro"...his was a foot in mouth situation.

I'ma take light skinned with a grain of salt, but hadn't Harry ever studied "ebonics" at college. C'mon man, "negro dialect". You'd almost think he said it as a joke to spur water bottle conversation.

Ever notice how the most attractive tend to be the lightest black people, and the tannest white people. Humans is weird.

Says they guy that started the "honest injun:" thread....
EDIT: sorry, that was Stuuuuu, I didn't recall.

Why are Republicans held to higher racial standards when it was Democrats fighting against equal rights?

Reid should be run out if held to 1/2 the standard as Trent Lott.

man look at this....this book is causing quite the stir just on what's been leaked.
Bill "the first black President" Clinton
Quote:
[A]s Hillary bungled Caroline, Bill’s handling of Ted was even worse. The day after Iowa, he phoned Kennedy and pressed for an endorsement, making the case for his wife. But Bill then went on, belittling Obama in a manner that deeply offended Kennedy. Recounting the conversation later to a friend, Teddy fumed that Clinton had said, A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee.

This tome is going to strain a few political relationships methinks.
