This is a pretty big shift from what has been a mostly optimistic White House. Obama has always been ok with getting something...anything on his desk to sign, but it now seems he may be resigning even that. He also throws congress under a Presidential sized bus as an added bonus. Quote: "I think it's very important for us to have a methodical, open process over the next several weeks, and then let's go ahead and make a decision," Obama said at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser. "And it may be that ... if Congress decides we're not going to do it, even after all the facts are laid out, all the options are clear, then the American people can make a judgment as to whether this Congress has done the right thing for them or not," the president said. "And that's how democracy works. There will be elections coming up, and they'll be able to make a determination and register their concerns." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100205/ap_ ... e_overhaul That wouldn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling if I were a Democratic lawmaker. |

Odd that he's throwing that bomb at his own party's house. If Dems get voted out en masse for conservatives who oppose the president's liberal policies it certainly won't pass the smell test for Obama to then claim it's really a rejection of the policies of George W. Bush, or the desire for more of the policies that were held by the dems who were sent packing. President Obama would be smarter to take some personal responsibility for his super majority not getting the job done, and acknowledge that many of those who opposed the legislation did so because they sincerely believed it wasn't popular with the constituency they represent. He should have gotten in front of this issue, outlined what HE wanted, and took on a leadership role in getting it passed. Instead, he sat back passively waiting for them to formulate something, and when it got bogged down in congress he passes all the blame off on them for not unifying to get it done. If I were a liberal democrat who voted for him to take on a leadership role for a new era of hope and change, this would really piss me off. The buck stops at the oval office, but he's just making excuses and looking for someone else to hand it off to. |

I too instantly identified that part of his statements and thought, "Wow." Ham |

This whole presidency makes me wonder if we didn't just all slip into some bizzaro world where the sabres mysteriously suck... oh. |
