Soooo...February 11th is the anniversary of the Iranian Islamic Republic...they're going to do something, the question is what.

A week ago Mahmoud Imadinnerjacket said “Iran will deliver a telling blow to global powers” on February 11th.

He also said that day would mark the demise of "the liberal capitalist system,”

And today. Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said: "The Iranian nation, with its unity and God's grace, will punch the arrogance (Western powers) on the 22nd of Bahman (February 11) in a way that will leave them stunned,"

So, what's your opinion of what they have up their sleeve?

My money is on an underground nuke test that will usher them into the global nuke club they've been trying to join for so long.
However I wouldn't be surprised with an attack on Israel either directly or through Syria.

ya know, i support opposing cultures and understand the gap between their values and ours. many americans can not. but what is this profound difference that they feel the need to attack us?

Well, hopefully it will teach us a lesson for inciting them with our military aggression and global corporate capitalism. Perhaps this calls for another apology trip? Bowing and hand kissing is always a good idea.

In 1953, the US and Britain helped orchestrate a coup that put a US friendly Shah in charge of Iran. They weren't as covert as they thought, and the truth about it came out. This fostered a great deal of anti-American sentiment. That anger toward the US came to a head in the Iranian Revolution in 1979, where the Ayatollah Khomeini returned to power on a surge of anti-American feelings.

TLDR : We stuck our nose in where it didn't belong, and they're rightfully pissed about it.

No, their leaders are still pissed about it.

The Iranian people have no major beef with the US. I've worked with several Iranians and the only negative thing I've heard them say about the US is we haven't done enough to support a secular revolution.

Random question.

If we're in debt to China, does that make us safer because it's in their interest to help defend someone that owes them money, big time?

EDIT:

Also, didn't Isreal say a few days ago that they haven't ruled out a strike on Iran?

I'm thinking that nothing will really happen, the guy LOVES to agitate leaders. This is the guy who donated $1 to Haiti and insisted that he got a report detailing what his $1 bought.

I don't think it goes to the level of defending us, but we do have a symbiotic relationship.
They need US consumers to keep buying their cheap goods and we need their financial leaders to keep buying our debt.

Israel would never rule out a strike on Iran...

Yeah, but this time it's not just their crazy President screaming direct threats, it's also the supreme leader who is the guy actually in charge.

In reference to Isreal, I meant to say, weren't they considering a preemptive strike?

I really wouldn't be surprised if they bombed Iran very soon.

They've said they won't allow Iran to have a nuke.
So I wouldn't be shocked if they took out nuclear sites if they knew an operational weapon was eminent.

That would turn the mid-east into a hornets nest though and we'd be left in quite a predicament.

Our asses are already all but in a sling. Although if Iran did have a Nuclear weapon, I'd be perfectly fine with aiding Israel in defense of their country, since it's a fact that Iran would want to use it to bully the rest of the middle east to get whatever they wanted.

I don't think they have anything as of yet, just alot of hot air.

There's an old saying from back in the 80's, it goes something like this...

FUCK IRAN

I fucking dare you to try some shit. There's a reason we arm Israel, and that's so if you DO get enough balls to try something, we let them fuck your shit up royally, and we still smell like a rose. The funny part is everyone knows this. haha

Again, FUCK IRAN

I wouldn't necessarily say fuck Iran. They have influence in the region. And you really have to go back to 53' ( "Operation Ajax") and the U.S. installing a puppet regime that has them tweaked. Another mess created by Allen Dulles.
You really need to ask yourselves as citizens, how would you feel if an outside power installed a guy like the Shah to President of the U.S. and he then nationalized our resources (for the sake of foreign companies) and went to a single party political system in an effort to consilidate control of the nation as a whole?

Probably wouldn't make you happy I would imagine.
Hence the reason why the U.S. was targeted by the current old timers and power brokers in Tehran. You really can't blame them, the U.S. and Great Britian fucked up there world.
Does this mean it gives them the right to support terrorism or that they shouldn't attempt to join the civilized world? No.
Does it give you a better understanding of why they feel the way they do? It should.
