Because I certainly didn't hear him mention jail time in his speeches about how awesome health care would be.

Part of the health care bill being battered around the House and Senate requires everyone to carry health insurance.

If you don't carry health insurance, you have to pay up to a $1,900 yearly fee (read tax) to the Feds...

So what if you don't pay the fee?
You could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty.

But don't worry, prisoners get free health care so it all works out in the end citizen.

In all honesty, Car Insurance is a rip off also, why charge soooooo much for something you may never need, and then if you get hit by an illegal, you're basically fucked because they aren't going to have insurance.

No...liability insurance definitely needs to be a requirement. If it isn't, there will be a lot of people that won't carry it. Then you'll get hit by someone with no liability insurance, causing substantial damage to your car and possibly yourself, and that person will be unable to pay it...thus, you have to pay it, and if you're not able to pay it, that's bad. Medical expenses are ridiculous nowadays, nobody could afford the medical bills from a serious accident without insurance.

Yeah, if you get hit by an illegal immigrant, that's not going to be fun, but that's a different story.

Health insurance, on the other hand, affects nobody but yourself...therefore it shouldn't be a requirement.

That is how we got to this point. Seriously I'm not making this up. Health insurance providers are a major force behind the mandate for everyone to have health insurance because their bottom line will shrink if it doesn't happen.
