So I'll assume everyone already knows about: 1. the S. Korean Navy ship that was sunk a while ago. 2. last week S. Korea and international investigators pinned the explosion and sinking on a DPRK torpedo. I've been waiting to see how the international community and S. Korea specifically would respond and boy howdy...did they respond South Korean President Lee Myung-bak Quote: We have always tolerated North Korea's brutality, time and again, We did so because we have always had a genuine longing for peace on the Korean Peninsula. But now things are different. North Korea will pay a price corresponding to its provocative acts, I will continue to take stern measures to hold the North accountable. We (of course) have their back. White house statement Quote: Specifically, we endorse President Lee's demand that North Korea immediately apologize and punish those responsible for the attack, and, most importantly, stop its belligerent and threatening behavior. U.S. support for South Korea's defense is unequivocal, and the President has directed his military commanders to coordinate closely with their Republic of Korea counterparts to ensure readiness and to deter future aggression. Even though a formal cease fire was never signed between the nations, this is not business as usual... |

well if we actually make the weapons in the US, that we could sell to the south would it help the economy...lol.... just as long as we don't send any troops over there... of course, the south will probably start to lose or the north will get pissed at us for weapons support and then.... BOOM! WW3.... uuuggghhh.... it would be nice to just play in our little box and tell everyone else to f-off... |

I'm curious to see where China decides to stand on all this. It's about time they kept their little crazy man at bay. |

BOOM! WW3.... uuuggghhh.... it would be nice to just play in our little box and tell everyone else to f-off... For starters , we already have a shitton of troops over there. If major hostilities break out, I'm sure more will be shift there, but it wouldn't be another Iraq situation; South Korea actually has an existing military. North Korea is in a really bad spot on this. China isn't even backing them 100% like they normally do, which means even they know that NK sunk that boat, regardless of what the NK 'press' says. China won't support hostilities, and if they tell NK to calm the eff down, they'll most likely do it. WW3 won't happen; NK can't start anything without China's support, and China certainly doesn't want that. XC is right; this is not the normal sabre rattling over there. Honestly, I hope that China eventually gets sick of dealing with those nutcases and just takes over NK. As sad as it is, the people would be better off under Beijing than Pyongyang. |

2 problems with this situation both from the S. Korean viewpoint. As always, Seoul is well within conventional artillery range of the North and would be target #1. The South (and everyone but the DPRK) knows a military conflict would be ended quickly and decidedly...then what do you do with ~20 million people with no economy, jobs or food? |

They've both learned how to profit greatly from communism-light and North Korea's BS is gumming up the works. We'll see, it's no coincidence Hillary is in China right now. |

I have always thought it made more sense from a nuclear standpoint and threat standpoint to fight NK rather than Iraq for example. That's not to say I want to get into another war with another shitty country. Ugh, so many friends stationed in Korea right now. |

Thing is, that wouldn't even be a war...more like we blow their shit up and have to support them afterwords. |

This would be like knocking Korea up and ditching out, only to have to pay child support. |
