were all concerned about the oil spill, but why is it the governments job to find a solution to stop it? granted, this is a tragedy, and we need EVERYONE pulling together to stop it, but why is the president being mocked for not finding a solution? maybe im missing something, but it just seems like that is ridiculous. where is YOUR solution, glen beck?

as for mocking obamas daughter? poor taste, but its not that big a deal. i think mocking an 11 year old is pretty shitty, but again, im not too bothered by it. and im a liberal.

That's what I've been thinking. People refer to this as his "Katrina" but this wasn't a natural disaster with no one directly at fault. This was a human fuck up brought on by human activity and there is a company who should be cleaning it up instead of throwing up their hands and saying it wasn't their fault. There is plenty of blame to toss around but the people who should be getting this kind of criticism sure ain't the people in the White house.

Im a republican and I dont like him... I think he is stupid and quite rash when it comes to things... he is a conservative extremist... Sure im conservative, but id like to think im very open minded about it. But this guy needs to be canned... he is out of control, I watched his show one time and cringed through it... it was hard to watch...

Are you guys serious?

The MMS regulates offshore drilling.
The MMS gave special permission to drill this well.
The MMS let them do it without an environmental impact survey.
The Coast Guard has jurisdiction over the impact area.
The EPA and department of interior has jurisdiction over much of the impacted area.
Federal aid is involved.
BP has to wait for Coast Guard approval before any of their recovery/containment operations.

All of those things are directly under the control of the Executive.
Do I need to make a longer list of why this is Obama's problem?

Of course, I don't expect him to fix it just as I didn't expect Bush to fix New Orleans, but to try to say this isn't the Presidents problem is an indefensible double standard.

the government oversees EVERYTHING just about. however, he cant snap his fingers and come up with a solution, and really, i dont think its his obligation. it should be a priority, yes. but BP should be under the gun, and it seems to me they spend more time deflecting criticism then trying to help. though, i also dont think something like this was in the handbook either.



regardless, a right winger shouldnt be on his show, mocking the president for not having a solution, because it seems like no one does.

Time for someone to take charge and the executive branch is the only arm of government with that power.

It is reasonable at this point to lay the ongoing failures at the feet of government.

i disagree, respectfully. you can not fault the government for what seems like a bad benny hill episode for BP. if they have the solution, awesome. if they dont, it dont think its their fault.

to me, this is like a problem between a teacher and a student, and while working it out, everyone wants the principal to intervene.

BUT! right now, time is valuable and they need to stop the leak NOW. so i can see where you are coming from.

regardless, unless beck has his own solution, he shouldnt mock the president for it either. thats like me teasing you for not being able to breathe under water, when i cant either.

Beck is a douche, I'm not arguing that at all.

As for the governments responsibility / culpability I can only put it this simply: If it weren't for decisions made by the Obama administration, that hole in the bottom of the gulf wouldn't exist.

I like the teacher/student analogy. The teacher gave a risky and dangerous assignment.

In the same press conference Beck is referring to, Obama admitted he was wrong.

Right, but I'm sure it wasn't an open invitation to mock her. I mean, what kind of jagoff gains self satisfaction at mocking a 11 year old girl who herself would probably admit to not knowing the issues. Why? Because she's fucking 11, and her dad is her world, and that's probably something an 11 year old might ask their dad if he was a mailman somewhere in the world. Or a freaking accountant. At that age you're not supposed to be stressed out and learning about politic etiquette, and if you are? Enjoy that brain tumor at age 30.
