Some of you may have seen this story on the Daily Show last night. It’s a doozy.

An unemployed, “involuntarily” discharged veteran who lives in his dad’s basement actually won the Democratic primary for the South Carolina U.S. Senate seat. He did so with almost 60% of the vote, with no signs, no buttons, no rallies, no advertising, no campaign manager, no nothing, really. He has said precious little to the press. What little he has said to the media is often simply yes or no answers. Many have questioned if he is impaired, or mentally challenged. Democrats are accusing him of being a Republican “plant”!!!

As a North Carolina resident, I want to emphasize the point that Jon Stewart made last night. South Carolina is one fucked up state filled to the brim with idiots. You’ve got that whackjob governor with the mistress in Argentina who promised to “try and fall in love with my wife again”. You’ve got Republicans calling fellow Republican towelheads, etc., etc. Please do not mix up North Carolina and South Carolina. North Carolina is mostly normal (but stay out of Fayetteville). South Carolina is insane.

As fun as this story is, keep in mind that no Democrat has any chance to win a Senate seat in South Carolina, so don’t get your hopes up if you’re rooting for this guy.

It's happened before...in SC even.
I can't find a reference to it now but I heard it on NPR last week.

Since both candidates are relatively unknown, the candidate listed first alphabetically on the ballot can win on that advantage alone.

Something is definitely funny here.

I like Stewart's response last night:

Well I look forward to seeing your future Senator Aaron. A. Aardvark.

Hahaha!
