In short: Verizon wants to build a datacenter in Niagara County. $4B investment, plus jobs created. (Granted, they're getting another tax break, but such is life in NY.) They went through the processes as dictated by the Town of Somerset, applied for and got zoning variances, cleared an environmental review, did everything they needed to do.

Along comes this whore from Amherst who owns land ACROSS THE STREET from where they want to build this thing. She starts filing lawsuits to stop the process because she feels Somerset approved things too quickly. The State Supreme court tossed all her complaints out, and now she's appealing.

This bitch doesn't live in Somerset, doesn't work there, nothing. She rents the land out to a farmer for his use. There will be no negative environmental impact on her property from this datacenter. But no, she'll tie the courts up and drag the town through lawsuits for no damn good reason. All to stop Verizon from putting a datacenter in a soybean field.

On a side note, that datacenter might be my key back into NY (you know, assuming I get through their screening process).

This is a prime example of people being sue crazy. Its pathetic, and annoying, people will sue for anything to get money. Pain in the ass. Some people shouldnt be allowed to speak...

yeah, datacenters really fuck up property values and ruin neighborhoods.

Look at the shithole I lived in in Sunnyvale

My apartment plus no less than 4 datacenters are in that picture...the global headquarters for Network Appliance and Cisco are about a mile away.

Datacenters do nasty things like encourage skilled educated workers to move nearby.
What a stupid bitch. Corporations don't need more reasons to avoid NY.

That was where I lived about 10 years ago.
It was $3200 a month back then, so bring your checkbook.

For $3200 a month, you can own your own property and install 3 pools around here. :)

yeah, but its not as fun when you pee in your own pool ;)

no, when im a home owner someday, ill have an indoor/outdoor pool. it goes into the house. in the winter, a wall comes down and seals it off, for the outdoor part to be winterized.

thats gonna be expensive. and hard.

It would be more cost effective to move to a place that doesn't have winter ;)

see, i love michigan summers. we have some wonky weather. most tornados per 1000 square miles outside tornado ally and the intermediate surrounding areas. we get awesome storms, and i love winter.. for 6 weeks. gimme 6 weeks of nasty blizzards, then 60 degree temps, and im happy.
