Meh...he's gone in September...what benefit would him stepping down immediately have? It's not like he's a brutal, oppressive dictator, he just overstayed his welcome and the people got nervous he wouldn't leave. |

If they settle down, what's the guarantee that he will? They might as well keep going until he's gone. |

They have elections scheduled regardless...he's not running and neither is his son...do you think he'd be re-elected? I kinda doubt it. The rioters have achieved their demands they're just being impatient. Having a leaderless country is not something they want. |

Naming yourself "president" for life then choosing a successor to do the same thing is being a dictator. The Egyptian people want to rebel so they can have a free, democratic country. |

Well at least the people of that country actually WANT democracy, I guess Mubarak didn't torture, brain wash, and threaten enough people to get his point across. If you're going to be a dictator, make sure your people are insanely frightened of you, or else you get rebellions. |

The Egyptian people want to rebel so they can have a free, democratic country. um yeah...when exactly did he do that? Your knowledge of Egyptian history must exceed mine. If you want to call the 2005 elections tainted, fine, but no one seized control of the office. There were mere rumors his son would run in the 2011 election but that's not even in the same ballpark as naming a successor. The worst thing the guy has done is maintain martial law for 30 years and generally overstay his welcome. |

He's been in office for 30 years. Millions of Egyptians are now rioting for that very reason. He's changed the constitution, too. He's practically a dictator. |

BlueandYellow wrote: He's practically a dictator. No he's not. And that's kind of like saying someone is "practically a rapist". Joe Biden and I don't agree on a lot of things, be he was right when he said Mubarak is not a dictator...he was a good friend to this country and a force for secularism and peace in a dangerous part of the world. Doesn't matter though, he stepped down this morning and put the military in charge. So the protesters got: 1. Continued martial law 2. To wait for a god damn election or exactly what they would have gotten if they had all just gone home. FAIL |
