Maddow/Olbermann Invited to White House Chat with Obama, But Fox Isn't a News Organization?

By Chris Ariens on Oct 21, 2009 12:58 PM
Here's a curious turn in the White House vs. Fox News fight.

On Monday, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow were among several people who attended an off-the-record briefing with Pres. Obama at the White House. Sources tell us other attendees at the two-and-a-half hour chat included Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post, Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, Gwen Ifill of PBS and Gloria Borger of CNN. Perhaps not surprisingly, no one from Fox News was in the room.

This fact quickly turned into ammunition for the folks at FOX. Last night on "Special Report," Bret Baier revealed the information pointing out that opinion hosts from one channel were being invited to a briefing with the Commander-in-Chief, all the while Fox was declared not a news organization.

Should be a non-story.

Bush hosts right-wing radio talk show hosts at White House.

The guest list included Sean Hannity, Neal Boortz, Michael Medved, Laura Ingraham, and Mike Gallagher. (Rush Limbaugh was unable to attend.) Friday’s off-the-record talk, set for 30 minutes, ended up lasting 90 minutes, where Bush told his guests that the war on terror has to be about right versus wrong, “because if it’s about Christianity versus Islam, we’ll lose.” He also showed them the pistol Saddam Hussein had when he was captured.

It's likely my ability to see the difference will one day be my undoing. The Thought Police don't have such a great sense of humor. :?

Such a creepy WH gathering gives me the willies.

"The thought police would get him just the same. He had committed - would have committed, even if he had never set pen to paper - the essential crime that contained all others in itself. Thoughtcrime, they called it. Thoughtcrime was not a thing that could be concealed forever. You might dodge successfully for a while, even for years, but sooner or later they were bound to get you."

You guys all take these reportainers too seriously. Right or left, they are tools that politicians must use to maintain the popular support that gets them elected and re-elected. It is a foolish president who doesn't take advantage of a friendly audience to build support for his agenda.

Nothing new here, folks.

To be honest, soon enough it will be getting ugly with the press. FOX is the only station speaking out against Obama and CNN and all those other liberal stations. And Obama doesnt like it, so he just shuts them out. Soon enough other news stations will be saying FOX is racist, but really they are just telling it how it is, sure they are biased towards Conservation and Republicanism, BUT EVERY OTHER station is for Liberalism...

Well, Rutledge, isn't that the opposite of how everyone was reacting with Bush in office? Fox News were the authority on what was going on and the nutjobs were all at CNN?

This is nothing new - it's all media divided by party lines. Nothing more.

Just because Obama doesn't like Fox doesn't mean they aren't part of the media. To exclude them is the first steps towards his dictatorship by denying the press. All of the press. The fact that he is willing to talk to his fellow dictators (Chavez, Amedinijad, etc) but is not willing to debate the differences he has with the conservative branch of a real American news network that is just as legit at CNN, MSNBC, etc just because he doesn't agree with them, frankly, is scary.

Go ahead and shoot me for my opinion...I'll be in the backyard blindfolded.

fellow dictators?

let me know when your life is so oppressed by the "obama regime" that it draws comparisons to other legendary dictators. funny, the left hated bushes tenure, but it never got this dillusional.

While people said Bush was favored by FOX is not lie, no secret, but Bush never invited a select group of Journalists from FOX only.... this is what Obama is doing, but with MSNBC and CNN.

That would be because Bush wasnt trying to pass things that were Socialistic and/or Dictatorship, Im not saying we are heading in the direction because I do not know, But Bush didnt try to pass socialistic views.

No, Bush pushed a batshit insane totalitarian agenda. The Patriot Acts I and II. Ya know, shit like that.
