Quote: I call upon all nations to do everything they can to stop these terrorist killers. Thank you. Now watch this drive. Remember all the manufactured outrage over that little quip by old Bushy coming from the left many years ago? Hell, it even made it into Fahrenheit 9/11. Well, today, as 14 more U.S. soldiers are killed in Afghanistan, Obama has played more golf than Bush did in almost 3 years. http://www.politico.com/click/stories/0 ... _golf.html Now I don't have any manufactured outrage over this, I'm just putting it here so everyone that lit into Bush for it has a place to vent their righteous anger towards Obama. |

Maybe Obama's handicap's a bit higher. Could be he needs work on his swing...never underestimate the need for a smoother follow-through, while squaring the hips. |

When his number of vacation days start to challenge W's, then I'll get worried. |

Wow, Michael Moore, big surprise. All he is is the left's Rush Limbaugh. |

Obama has had a much harder January-September in his first year in office than Bush. I'll give the harder September-October to Bush based on 9/11, and we'll see for the rest of the year. If the school newspaper (if we had one at my school) kept track of how many games of poker I play, or how many beers I drank, then I'd probably come off as not committed to my job too. But that would be misleading. |

Schony: Is that your son? You must be wicked proud and panic stricken all at the same time. I must admit..I love to listen to Rush. He just makes me laugh...or at least he used to back in the '90s when I had time to listen to him. I think its the 'update songs' that he played before he'd talk about a favorite subject like animal rights, women's rights, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, etc. I'm just immature enough where it cracked me up. I think he's lost his touch lately, though. Not nearly as entertaining as he used to be. Michael Moore is just, well, if I leaned to the left, I'd probably like him, but since I don't, I think he's a confused fathead. |

I've always had a certain disdain for both major american parties. I think that most of the time, they're opposite sides of the same coin, like Rush and MM. I think Moore is funny, I think that he brings up a lot of good points using his own brand of humor, but I also think he is guilty of massaging statistics, quotes and interviews to suit his agenda. He kind of reminds me of crosscheck whe he deliberately posts unflattering pictures of politicians he doesn't like. Rush is loud, obnoxious, and probably doesn't believe half the stuff he says. He caters to his base well, and a lot of people like him for that. A lot of what Rush says is sensational, and designed only to get a reaction or stir controversy. |

I'm pretty sure Moore strips down a lot of his interviews to points where the interviewee stumbles over his words, or he takes quotes out of context to support his agenda. |

Michael Moore, while he obviously favors Democrats, targets all politicians who he thinks aren't doing their job. Did he stop making movies while Clinton was in office? no. What are his targets? Well, currently it's bankers, in the past, the CEO of GM (Roger and Me), the healthcare industry (Sicko), (yes) George W. Bush (farenheit 9/11), corporations that outsource jobs and crush unions (the Big One), and the media (Bowling for Columbine). Do you think Rush would ever have the balls to take on such forces, which basically control both parties? I sure don't. I also think that Rush cares only about the rich and powerful and is a voice that tries to preserve the status quo, while Michael Moore cares about the poor and is a voice for change. overall, I think comparing the two only works on a pretty superficial level, but of course I'm biased. |

This is a pretty accurate analysis. I've actually seen all of Moore's films except for his most recent. Like I said, I like the guy, I just often disagree with his methods. EDIT: Haven't seen the big one. |

The reason that this became a sound bite that stuck to Bush is that it seemed to encapsulate in 30 seconds the popular perception of the man and his presidency. Bush was seen as a disconnected frat boy, who mouthed the words given to him, while being more preoccupied with other, less important, things. Every president eventually develops (or is saddled with) a public persona. Remember stumbling Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter and the killer rabbit, or the perception that Al Gore claimed to have invented the Internet? Did it matter that Ford wasn't really that clumsy, or that Carter wasn't actually threatened by the rabbit, or that Al Gore never said he invented the Internet? No. Because each of those stories told a larger truth of the public's perception of those men. Gerald Ford was seen as a bit of a bumbler, who stumbled into the presidency. Jimmy Carter had the reputation for being hapless and weak. Al Gore was linked to a president who stretched the truth and was himself perceived as being suspect in his facts. Each president's persona is his own. It doesn't transfer from one occupant of the Oval Office to another. After all, Bush proved to be far more deceptive than Al Gore, but the media rarely called him on it until the last years of his presidency. Obama will eventually be saddled with his own exaggerated persona, and I imagine it will have something to do with his professorial leadership style, which will be seen as either thoughtful and statesman-like, or compromising, dithering, and indecisive. |
