The winger left the ice midway through the second period of Buffalo’s 6-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings after netting his second goal of the night. Although Vanek immediately left the game following the play - crashing along the endboards - Ruff said the injury took place before the goal. “It’s tough, but we’ve got extra players and every team is going to have to deal with injuries,” Ruff said. “If you look what Detroit’s dealing with, they’ve got to deal with [Johan] Fronzen out of the lineup. Every team is going to miss key players along the way and I think we have enough depth.” |

I'm not sure why there must always be problems, but I know that only the dead are free of problems. Doesn't Ruff sound scary calm, almost relieved? His confidence in having enough depth is actually making me consider that it could be true.  As the wise Tom Hanks once said: It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard . . . is what makes it great. |
