Bone bruise is nothing serious. Add negative in x-rays, he will be good to go Tuesday.

bone bruises aren't nothing...they can keep people out of commission for over a week. if you doubt it, you've never had one.

eeeeeeeghhhzzz yeah I would not be playing with one that's for sure, that sounds extremely painful and I imagine that it would limit mobility

A bone bruise is basically a bone that almost broke. It's not a bullshit injury.

That sucks. A puck to the leg is a bitch, so glad when I took a few it wasn't NHL player shots, just some weaker shots in Rec league.

That's why you don't put your leading scorers on the PK.

You put whoever is the best PKer on the team..

Philly Puts Richards out on the PK.

Your argument is still flawed.

agreed. whoever plays the best defense plays on the PK. and if they happen to be a scorer, so be it.

No, he belonged out there lol.

There was a thread somewhere one day (about Vanek's icetime I think) where I shared my opinion (I know big surprise) on the PK. Low lining grunts work harder on the PK, know how to block shots better (thereby making it safer for them, some even wear added protective gear that might otherwise slow down a scoring forward), are far more willing to block shots, and yes are more expendable. I know that's cruel but it's true, I'm a grunt at my job and the same rules applies to me. Not only that, I want my scorers to be fresh and rested and chomping at the bit to score when it's ES or PP.

The other night Pomminville blocked a shot with his foot on the kill, that could have easily been a 5+ game injury.

Right the odds of getting injured on the penalty kill are probably the same as the odds of getting hurt on any other play. If you're saying that scorers shouldn't be on the pk because they might catch a shot, you might as well say they shouldn't play defense entirely.

personally, im a fan of putting the fastest guys on the PK. the sabres had a player who had tons of speed but nothing else. milan bartovic. i always thought he coulda made a really good PK man, and scored a few shorties based on that speed alone. and the ability to get into position better.

i totally get putting muckers and grinders out there, but if some of your best muckers and grinders also score alot, i would play them.

just how i feel.

I'm talking about guys like Vanek, stars. And I would try not put Richards out there but he is their best faceoff guy too, so that's a rock and a hard place. You kind of have to put your best faceoff guy out there on the kill sometimes, hope he wins it and then can get off the ice.

I think the second you start playing not to get hurt is the second you should hang up the skates. See: Tim Connolly.

I agree. When stars are on the PK they should be blocking shots, that's why I wouldn't put them out there. The ones that do kill usually don't block shots, which contributes to more shots getting through.

Just my 2 cents

Pavel Datsyuk :41 per game SH TOI. Would he be the best PK'er on the team?

If you guys look at DET SH TOI, you will see his argument isn't flawed at all. Being as successful of a franchise as they are it's hard to say they're wrong and message board posters are right.
