I recall that Darcy took Ennis earlier in the draft than people expected him to go. He was pegged as a 2nd rounder (one-dimensional). That may have been a shrewd decision by Regier.

Even if he is one-dimensional it'll be fine. If he is on offense and scoring goals first and foremost that means good things.

Sometimes a players best defense is their offense, and he'll learn the defensive aspect of the game, probably is in the AHL right now.

whats up with Gerbe also, is he still injured?

i was gonna bag on gerbe yesterday. then i saw he had 28 points in 30 games, and thought better of it, cause those are wonderful numbers.

I don't mind Ennis being a purely offensive player. You need guys that can put the puck in the net, and he can do that.

I was upset at the time of the pick that we didn't take D John Carlson. I thought we needed defense more at that time, and still do.

Time will tell.

The Pirates are riding a 9 game winning streak into the 3 away games this weekend. I will be at all 3 of them, and am looking forward to my first trip to Rochester. is it a safe bet to assume I will be very unpopular?

Nah, Rochester fans are usually pretty good. Since your a Pirates fan and the Pirates are now the grooming grounds for Sabres players you will have much to talk about with fans there, also, with the Americans being the farm team for Florida you may hear alot of speculation talk on possible trades between the Sabres and Panthers and thier prospects as well as roster players.

If you get any great information out of this trip on trades, be sure to post it Pf1969, We are craving any news up here in Buf ;)

Tied at 2 each with Albany, Joe DiPenta scored shortie with less than two minutes left to give Portland it's TENTH STRAIGHT WIN!

The Pirates have now tied the franchise's record of ten straight wins set in '96/'97.

I think we were all worried when they started the season on that epic skid, but since December, the Pirates have been ridiculous. I think I saw a stat somewhere that Enroth's GAA since December is 1.60 or something. Then you've got Ennis and Mancari and (when the poor little shit isn't injured) Gerbe putting up boffo points, and it's just gotten ridiculous the comeback they've staged.

Also, with tonight's win, the Pirates have moved into second in the division!

You can find streams on myp2pforum.eu on AHL games Howie.

Depends who streams them really.

We could use some GDT's for Portland while the olympics are on - complete with streams, etc. I was hoping some AHL games would be aired on the NHL network while the Olympics were on, but I haven't seen any yet

In their second season as the Buffalo Sabres' affiliate, the Portland Pirates have established a new franchise-record winning streak by beating our old farm tonight for their ELEVENTH STRAIGHT WIN!

Boxscore here

Notables:
- Brennan with three assists tonight, two on the power play...has the sleeping QB PP inside him awoken?
- Gogulla with two goals, continuing the consistent effort from the line of Gogs/Caruana/Rank.

I can't say enough how fucking happy I am that Matt Caruana landed with Portland :D
