I'm watching the Canada vs Switzerland game, and Adam looks good. He backchecks well, especially along the walls. He uses his big frame to really force guys off the puck.

He looks like he can be a competent power forward, actually. He bulldozes his way across the ice, and has excellent puck sense. He's got two goals and an assist so far.

Yeah he has played well so far. His play along the boards is what earned him a spot. I'm really excited to see how he and the rest of the team does against USA on New Years Eve.

Exactly what I saw, dude. Against the boards, he's a demon. He had a couple of shifts where, in an NHL game, he'd have drawn a penalty for being so persistent.

Adam latest Newfoundlander to don maple leaf at world juniors

"SASKATOON - Luke Adam can still picture the simple wooden sticks that got him hooked on hockey.

"We used to go to Wal-mart and buy the $9 Titans," the Team Canada forward said Sunday with a grin. "They did the trick."

Adam squeezed a lot of goals out of those twigs. He netted nine in his first organized game, and evolved into one of the most prolific scorers in the St. John's minor hockey system.

Now the Newfoundlander has a cult following in his home province. He's just the sixth player from The Rock to represent Canada at the world junior hockey championship.

"I've been getting messages non-stop since I made the team," said Adam, who scored a pair of goals Saturday in Canada's tournament opener, a 16-0 win over Latvia, and is hoping for more of the same Monday afternoon against Switzerland."

I see we three (me, Ice, EH) are back in top form reporting on a hot prospect for the Sabres during the WJC :D

Great Article. No points tonight but still played solid. We should pick up Della Rovere and have a line of DR-Adam-Kaleta

Very nice...heard he's good with rebounds too.

He had a rebound he took in and delivered a sexy no look pass across the low slot onto the tape of his teammate, he just couldn't pull the trigger.

Like one of those passes you get and its like "oh shit, the puck is on my stick somehow" and then "doink!" can't take the shot.

So his skill level is good? I think he'll make the NHL as a power forward, but is he a top 6 type player?

Well, he's a center, so he could be max out as a second-line center.

That's being very optimistic. I'd say 3rd line center. Don't expect to see him on the penalty kill though boys. He's not know for his defensive skills. I've watched him closely thus far and he's playing very good. He went from being the 13th forward to being a lock on the energy line. He needs to hit a bit more I think. He started using his body late in the Switzerland game but he needs to use it more often.

Well, I said he could max out as a second line center. I, too, expect third line minutes out of him.

Nice wrap around goal for Luke as Team Canada ges up 4-0 over Slovakia.

Luke seems pretty good on the faceoffs. Really good news considering the problems the Sabres have.

I think the potential is there for Adam to be a good first line center. He seems to have all the tools. Just a matter of the transition he makes. Hopefully it's a good one. Either way I love our future up front. Gerbe, Ennis, Adam, Kassian, Foligno, Tropp, Lagace, Byron, Schutz not to mention Kennedy who we all know is already playing well in the NHL. Could be a good looking group in a couple years.
