I like our defensive future

Mike Weber has 10 points in 37 games -- Not incredibly impressive, however is a massive +20 (2nd best in the league) and second on the team with 60 penalty minutes.

Please (seriously) correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you get a - for a penalty?? If so thats even more impressive

This is me correcting you. You do not get a - for a penalty.

Whenever a goal is scored or scored against on special teams, it doesn't affect your +/- whether you're in the box or on the ice.

No, that's not true. Any PPG doesn't affect +/-, but a short-handed goal will. But only for those skaters on the ice. The guy in the box gets nothing.

And what's even more impressive is he is probably playing against other teams top lines too, and a +20 is just absurd on Defense while playing against top lines.

I go back to those 16 games he played at the end of the 2007-8 season where he looked like he was going to stick on the roster the following year.

For the Sabres looking at UFA for Tallinder and Lydman...it would be nice if he got back to how nice he looked in those few games.

If Sekera can stay revved up from the Olympics through next season, then the Weber-Sekera pairing could be back in a big way.

I think Lydman should have been dumped for a draft pick, and Weber brought up as a test run to see where he's at. He wouldn't need to stay or play big minutes in the playoffs, depending on how Sekera plays. It would help Darcy to see what he might need to do via FA in the summer for a d-man.

So seriously, why haven't we brought up more of our Portland players for a few games??? Weber, Ennis, Gerbe, Gragnani = Amazing and a change in pace in my book. God knows we want a spark.

Yea I agree also, bring up Ennis to get some feet moving and hearts going.

Weber and Gragnani also to fire up some of the defense.

Ennis is nursing a concussion from getting cross checked to the face, he'll be out at least a week.
