My sources tell me Luke Adam and the Sabres closed the deal and that he's on the way to Portland right now. Will update with link when available. Edit: SabresProspects reporting a three-year entry-level deal, will post more links as confirmation grows stronger

SabresProspects report Kris Baker is reporting a 3-year entry-level deal Quote: Sources close to both sides of the equation are indicating that Luke Adam has been signed to a three-year entry-level contract by the Buffalo Sabres. Adam, who recently finished second in voting for QMJHL MVP after a 49-goal campaign in Cape Breton, will head to Portland to join the Pirates in preparation for the start of the AHL playoffs.
Adam, 19, comes to the Sabres after a dominating second half that saw him return from Team Canada's silver medal winning performance at the 2010 World Junior Championships to score 24 goals in the Eagles' final 23 games. The 6'2 center totaled 90 points in all to finish fifth in QMJHL scoring while his 1.61 points-per-game was tops in the league. The St. John's, Newfoundland native can play center and left wing while contributing down low on the power play. Adam, who approaches the game with "a passion for scoring goals", lit the lamp with a respectable 17.8 shooting percentage this past season to set the table for a professional entry. |

They are also saying Jacob Legace is on a try out contract with the pirates. |

And he is on his way to Portland I am being told by my buddy there in Portland. |

He is in Buffalo today for a physical and is scheduled to report to Portland on Friday. Adam, the Sabres' second-round pick in the 2008 draft, was a scoring machine for Cape Breton in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He was fifth in the league with 90 points, scoring 49 times and adding 41 assists in 56 games. The 6-foot-2, 203-pounder also played well for second-place Canada in the world juniors. "He had a very good year," Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier said in TD Garden. "It’s not unlike, in some ways, Tyler Myers. He benefited from the world juniors and really picked up the pace from that point on." Regier also told The News that prospect Jacob Lagace will join the Pirates for a tryout.
