On his way to a Sabres game, he had stopped at a light on Oak Street when a a car behind him rammed his BMW, which hit the car in front of him, Robitaille said. Almost instantly, he knew he was in trouble.

“I couldn’t move my arms; I couldn’t move my legs,” he said. “My nose was itchy, I couldn’t scratch my nose. I couldn’t get my cell phone. I couldn’t do anything. ... I knew it was spinal. My arms and legs — there was nothing there.”

WOW!

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

Wow... you have to feel for the guy. Glad to see his spirits are still up though. Hope this doesn't mean the end of his broadcasting career.

Get well soon Robi.

Wow, I really hope he gets better and can return. I always liked him during intermissions.

Jeez, this sounds worse than I thought. He'll be out for a while. Still sounds exactly like Rebecca's accident and it took close to a year for her to get back to a "normal" activity level. And she still has pain. Although she's been weaned from pain killers to almost none, she still has to take them sometimes over a year after her surgeries.

I have a feeling this will be a long recovery, because it sounds like he was immediately in much worse shape than Rebecca, and she had a long recovery.

Get well Mike but don't push yourself too hard. Your job will be there when you're feeling better.

Yikes...glad that he's in good spirits though. I wish him a speedy recovery, and thanks for posting the updated, sabresindc.

I feel absolutely terrible for Roby... Get well soon. I miss him in the broadcast booth.

It's cool to see Danny again, but he's just not Mike Robitaille...

EDIT:

And it's great to hear how many people really do appreciate him.

I miss Robi's drunken intermission rants and the looks Kevin Sylvester gets when he says something ridiculous.....like when he told Nick Bakay that he would never cheat on his wife, but if he did, it would be with Bakay's wife, hahaha!

Well it did say he couldn't come back yet partly because of the painkillers which would cause him to say things that "wouldn't make sense." So maybe he already was on some other kind of painkillers from his other neck accident and that's why sometimes he sounds crazy.
