Here is what I would do if I bought the team tomorrow.

Quote:
At the end of the day, I would have a roster with a cap hit total of $58,139,524 (Not much breathing room at the deadline. But, hopefully, I wouldn't need to add much) and a salary budget of $56,980,000.

My depth chart would look something like this:

Whitney-Richards-Vanek
Hecht-Ennis-Pominville
Kennedy-Cullen-Grier
Mair-Gaustad-Kaleta
Spares: Ellis, McCormick

Regehr-Myers
Weber-Montador
Sekera-Rivet
Spare: Butler

Miller
Enroth

I'm smaller than I'd like to be up front and my defense beyond my top pair leaves a lot to be desired. But, I'd like the culture change that would take place in the locker room by adding guys like Richards, Regehr, Whitney, and Cullen.

If this didn't work, there is the potential for a lot of cap room next summer if Richards doesn't re-up and Montador and Rivet walk. I could also look at potentially moving out Vanek and Pominville if need be, as well.

But, I have a feeling that fans that want change with the Sabres would be more excited by this type of off season than what they will get from Darcy Regier, Larry Quinn, and Tom Golisano this off season.

I like it, and Cullen is looking to free agency as OTT hasn't offered him anything attractive. Plus, your idea of having Ennis center Pommer and Hecht should work spades because Ennis is a Briere-type and that's the center both wingers had their greatest success with.

But would you turn if he was proactive and got royally fucked. Regier is very cautious. Too cautious probably, definitely too cautious for the fans taste. He needs to pull the trigger a bit more, the cautious ones often miss the fun.

It's okay to be cautious and proactive. But I couldn't agree more.

I find this very amusing what someone wrote on wgr550.com I don't know about Kovy though but it's pretty funny.

Attn: 18,690 Plus!
Call off from work, get in your cars and flood the parking lots at the arena and around it and blare your horns at 12:00 PM tommorrow and wake up Regeir. That should get his attention to get the ball rolling for changes. Chants of Kovy, Kovy, Kovy would help!!! Get rid of Connolly and I'll rent a limo and get him to the airport hitting a few gin mills on the way!!!

i would like to point out that almost every move made by darcy has to be approved by the higher ups. its not like he can just spend and wheel and deal at his desire. its like darcy is a stock broker. a stock broker doesnt make trades without your consent, do they? well, neither can darcy.

That's the problem. If Darcy had both VP of Hockey Operations and General Manager like some GMs do, I guarantee we'd see a much more active Darcy.

I've always wanted this to happen. If it did Darcy would shut up a lot of people imo.

It means Quinn is an idiot? I dunno, I didn't get anything worth worrying about from it.
