So do you keep Staff-Roy-Van together for a game or two?

What do you do when Pommers comes back? How far away is he?

Who was sitting or hurt for Butler being in? Im drawing a blank... I saw Sekra, Myers, Monte, Rivet.... Leopold... who am i missing? Butler didn't start the season, did he? Why is my head not working.... i just do not remember seeing him recently...

Morrisonn is out, thats why Butler is in I'm guessing. Can anyone confirm?
Also, I liked the Hecht-Connolly-Pommers line in the regular season last year, not LOVED, but liked it in the second half of the season.
Unfortunately, they were a no show in the Boston series.
I want CONNOLLY gone, and NOW!!!!
I want Ennis on the LW and, when Pommers returns, on the RW.
All I am looking for is a Center worth a shit for them.

As for Stafford, yes, he looks different this season. I like Roy and Vanek together, but I'm not sold on Stafford as the RWer yet.
Sorry, but three seasons prior this guy wasn't even streaky, he was invisible for much of the time.
That may have changed. I don't know, only time will tell, and right now, I don't have the patience for it.
If it does work for Staff with Van and Roy, then fine, I'm all in.

Morrisonn thats right.... sorry, im slow, thank you.... Hecht was hurt in the Boston series and Timmy was coming off injury... Ive been a pretty big Staff basher in the past, but im putting that on hold based on Miller's comments.... Keep Staff-Roy-Van together for a few games... I like the idea of Hecht-Timmy-Pommers... but i still don't like ennis on the 3rd line, id like to see him in the top 6....

Again I agree, but I look at it more along the lines of scoring PP goals in consecutive games rather than consecutive power plays. Baby steps, homegirl, baby steps lol

Well, I don't necessarily mean they have to score on every PP for them to be successful. I want scoring chances and the puck to go on net. Not, "hey guys! Let's dump it in and let the other team recover and send it down the ice hurrrr durrrr.. OH SHIT 2 ON 1.... *phew* Thank you, Miller!" type of shit that seems to occur more often than not. I want an intimidating PP that generates chances, which will eventually lead to goals.

Ya mean?

I certainly would, although I don't think the RW on that line is written in stone. Pomms can play with Connolly.

Ennis on the 3rd and Gerbe on the 4th continue to spark the team. Their speed and quickness combined with the added room to maneuver is very effective, and it provides 4 lines with attack zone power.

He did have a nice assist on that 3rd goal. ;)

Team play looked much better.
Players that deserve mentioning: Montador, Butler, Stafford, Gerbe, Ennis, Hecht and obviously Miller.

Butler played a particularly good game defensively.
Vanek finally scored, but other than that instance was virtually invisible.
Connolly (sigh) what more is there to say.
Montador is a trooper, no doubt, even during the losing streak.
Ennis scored, good for him.
Gerbe did some very good work back checking and isn't afraid to throw the puck to the net.
Hecht played decent.
Stafford has really turned it up a notch this season, good for us and him.

Buffalo played a flat-footed Atlanta team. For anyone who caught Atlanta's opener like I did, you know Atlanta is much faster and more physical than we saw this evening. But, give our team credit, they clogged the passing lanes, suffocated the transition game of Atlanta and layed it out there in the shot lanes in our zone tonight (Montador and Butler come to mind).
Rivet does not need to be resigned after the season in my opinion, but Montador I would keep as the #4 D man.

Overall, a decent effort, the Power Play still sucks donkey dick and it is only 1 game. My view is well known by all of you, I still hold firm to my beliefs that a couple of trades are needed, and now.

Other wise, not a terrible outing by the team, a win is a win.
My hats off to Butler, I rode his ass hard for months, but if he can clog passing lanes, stay in position and block critical shots as he did tonight, then there is hope for the kid. He's still trade bait to me though.

There is a lot that I agree with here but something that has really been obvious to me is Rivet. I mean the guy is a ghost. How can this invisible man be our leader? He's old and needs to hang up the skates. Overall, much happier tonight than I have been with the last few games.

lmao...go on WGR 550.com and listen to Ryan Miller's post-game interview. You can hear Paul Gaustad shouting in the background about how hot Cody McCormick is.

I didn't read every post, but we handily beat a team that played like shit. Don't know if that's been mentioned.

Happy to see the win. they looked pretty good from what little I saw here. I really should just buy the NHL package and watch the games. :)

Nice to see Vanek & Myers get on the score sheet. Rather Vanek than Myers. He seems to be able to brush off the slow start a little easier than Vanek (imo) but it was good to see him drive one home. I can only imagine the sigh of relief in the locker room. It's never fun when you're not winning, even worse when you're not scoring. Good job, boys!

Over all, I’m happy with the win. We needed this team to have a good outing to maybe get the feel good legs under them. Although a win is a win and I'm happy as hell that we won last night, Ottawa will be a different game tomorrow night. As will NJ on Saturday night. If they can keep playing as they did last night and for the better part of the Chicago game, we should see a solid outing in these next few games.

Keep it up boys!

They won a game they should have won against a team they should have beat.

Can't ask for a ton more than that.

But Atlanta had been playing great up to that point. We beat a decent team in Atlanta who didn't play up to their par this season, or how they have been playing.

You say 'But' like you're about to submit a rebuttal, and then go on to agree with what many of us have said. Am I missing the point of your post?

Atlanta is a mediocre 3-3. I wouldn't call that "great".

Their last two games they won from behind on both occasions.

Where did I say a great team in my post? DECENT is not great, nor did I ever say great. If you're going to say something, at least make sure I actually said it first before you butt in with something.

He was obviously referring to you saying they were playing great.

Ehh, I say coming back down two goals from San Jose is playing pretty good and from Anaheim, is not a terrible team.

Atlanta is not as mediocre as they have been lately, those two games before they played pretty good, and their home opener they played pretty good in also.

Yeah, I guess looking back, Atlanta was coming off quite the road trip. Perhaps we just caught them at a good time (i.e. when they were tired as hell).

Also, I blame it on the rent being too damn high (and that will be the only reference I make to that from now on).
