What the fuck is with this passing backwards while rushing through the nuetral zone?
Dude, I heard you knock this play a couple of times and I have to step in this time. Three challenges of a powerplay are winning battles along the boards, getting shots to the net and gaining entrance to the zone. This 'drop pass' thing wasn't Buffalos invention, it was Detroit who first started doing it and they made it work to perfection. As far as I'm concerned it is an amazing way to get into the zone because the 4 Montreal players are backing up and are prepared to step up to the puck carrier but before they can do that the drop pass happens. After that, they stop and are caught flat footed while the puck carrier moves in with speed. I don't see the problem with this play at all. I think Sekera fucked it up once but other than that it's a cash play. The problem Buffalo has is controlling the puck once they get in the zone because they can't win battles along the boards.
??????
I can appreciate the strategy lesson. But check it out jordano. We arent' seeing anything close to what you just posted in the games on the ice.
Basically, when the Sabres pass back their fowards are at a stand still at the blueline "every single time". You have like a 10% chance of getting puck control this way. The opposing team will beat you to the dump and chase almost every single time when you put your forwards in a "stand still at the blue line configuration. It is what it is man, I am seeing it every game.
And yes, I completely agree with you that we are getting owned along the boards, down low and in the corners, but this play isn't working, its that simple. Thats why I am railing against it.
