Nothing official from the Sabres yet, but WGR's Pat Malacaro is reporting Matt Ellis is at the ACC. Ellis is coming off of a 1g, 2a game versus the Adirondack Phantoms last night.

Edit: WGR is reporting he is officially in place of Stafford tonight

Yup. Nice to see someone bring their lunch pail and work boots to a game for a change. He might not be flashy or have moves like Ovechkin, what he brings to the rink is a no quit attitude. Maybe they can bottle some of his sweat and make the other guys drink it? If half the guys on this team had a fraction of the heart Matty brings to the ice.... If only...

He can't be an emergency callup as I understand the rule. The cutoff is 12 forwards / 6 defense / 2 goalies.

He should have to clear waivers on the way back to Portland, should he be sent back.

I liked the play of Matty tonight. Always a fan of a lunch pail gang type of player. Kind of wish I put in a bid on his game worn from last year now.

I still want a McCormick though!

If LA wanted to claim him, he would have been put through waivers to get sent here in the first place.

I thought they worked both ways.

Ellis had 8:58 minutes in 13 shifts on the ice last night at Toronto. He may have not made any noise, but his presence of a good work ethic and playing hard was felt.
