No one agrees about sending him down, which is fine since he clearly has the skills to be in the NHL. But I haven't heard much in the way of other ideas to get him playing more of a team game besides having consistent linemates, which I agree with, or playing with Roy and Vanek, which i might also agree with.

But the point here is that the team is playing like individuals, and I think he's just been better at playing as an individual than most of the team. I still think he needs to find a way to gel with his teammates instead of being given free reign to play "his" game, or else he could become Maxim II.

Ennis is there to provide fire power. Yes he needs to tighten his game up, you're 100% correct. But what you really want to see are scoring chances as a result of his speed and skill. The chances are there, I see a lot of room for improvement but they need this young man in the NHL. Maybe if he played at center he would grasp the system a little easier.

I see things differently dsabres06. What I see from the team is many players trying to be creative with the puck instead of making safe and simple plays, and that attempt at creativity causing turnovers and breakaways. I see a lot of skating with the puck. I see a lot of passes through the middle of the ice in their own zone. I see players trying to make drop passes at the blueline. I see players blindly throwing the puck in front of the net to no one when they have it behind the opposition's goal. Granted I don't see all of that from Ennis, but he definitely is skating with the puck and trying to stick-handle around defenders a lot. Maybe he has the skill to get away with it, but most of the team doesn't.

Alright well I certainly agree that the drop pass at the blueline is godawful, but I'm talking about creative play that actually has a positive effect sometimes. A lot of the plays the Sabres make are very simple and "safe". Too simple to fool any defenders. I bet they're pretty predictable.

I also agree that most of the team doesn't have the skill set to do what Ennis does, but guys like Vanek, Stafford, Connolly, and Pominville all should. They've shown it in the past, but they don't now. Remember Stafford's beautiful goal against Justin Pogge? I haven't even seen him try that move since. I don't know why. Maybe it was because he was less into his rock band back then (I kid). It's not about doing things individually, it's about taking care of what you can individually to put the team in a better position to score.

And as a side note, the problem of not having a clutch goal scorer wouldn't be a problem if we had ways to score consistently. Tampa Bay has their one-timer passing plays, Detroit has their deflections; Buffalo has Roy and Vanek batting the puck out of the air every once in a while.

He's like Briere, he sees the ice better when he plays the middle.

Realistically, what else can we expect from guys like him and Roy? They're trying their damnedest to keep this team afloat while other guys get their asses in gear (which may require a proctologist's aide, depending on how deep their head is). I can't really blame them for not trusting anyone else when they've got Drew "I'm not sure if I want to play today" Stafford or Thomas "Lindy crushed my confidence" Vanek as linemates, and Tyler "maintain possession? do not want" Myers as their option to backpass to.

Don't forget... Roy played wing until he got completely adjusted to the NHL game.

Playing on the line with Roy and Vanek looked like a good fit last night to me. Maybe I was overreacting.

I loved seeing Ennis on the line with Roy and Vanek, I've been hoping Ruff does that all year long.

Ennis is a beast, and will be a Center when Connolly is gone most likely. I wonder what would happen if we put Connolly with Roy and Vanek and Let Ennis Center Hecht and Pominville?

I'm not opposed to him playing the wing, just as long as he's in the top 6.

Yeah. Ennis needs to be in the Top 6 in order to be effective. He'll get points here and there on the 3rd line, but he can be a beast if they threw him on a line with more people like him (people who know how to score, obviously).
