Jihad!

Connolly went 0-for-4 on shots on goal tonight. This was the second time this week he failed to score, and is a constant problem for him this season.

Get your act together, Connolly, or jihad!

Your title made me laugh.

Connolly's turnover led to the first goal. Who was surprised by that?

Thanks! I could call for a fatwah, but that would be too extreme.

No one is surprised by Connolly's failures.

That whole line has been a botched abortion this year. Imagine what that $13.5 million in cap space could do for this team if it was used wisely.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this exact same line pretty solid last year? Puzzling...

The thing that bothers me the most is that his subpar performance seems to be stemming from his mentality. He seems to have the speed and skills necessary, he just doesnt fucking want it. He looks mechanical out there, and when he scores it is simply a matter of being in the right place and shoveling something in, not impressive.

Thats just my impression though, perhaps he has a lagging injury, or that concussion scattered his brain too much.

My take on Connolly:

He knows he'll never get another contract like he has now. I feel like he's simply playing the string out trying not to get hurt so he at least has an opportunity for another contract after this year.

He *only* had 4 shots. Not that I'm trying to make an excuse for him, but guys with S% over 25% are guys like Lucic, Stamkos, Koivu, and Korpikoski... Connolly isn't that caliber player.

Get real, why would he sand bag in a final year of a contract, it's not gonna make him more money playing poorly. He just sucks this year simple as that!

Better to make 800k for another three years than nothing because you're out of hockey due to injury.

Name one team that will pay him $4.5M after this year is up. There isn't one.

I'm not accusing him of sandbagging. I'm accusing him of not giving maximum effort because he doesn't want to get killdozered again.

Eh, I don't even think it's that. I just don't think he's a good hockey player. I mean, he goes out there and performs some "work", but he just isn't who he used to be.

I agree, but what kills me the most with this guy is you have 4 guys lining up at the blueline and he tries to stickhandle into the zone when he should dump it past and go and get it. Instead he get's poke checked and it leads to a goal. Here's the other issue this team has no decent center's besides him and Roy. This team has no great prospects at Center and this organization really doesn't have much for any prospects on offense in the system besides Adam. That's a big problem. This team needs to get some young offensive players and I'm not talking Gerbe.

Probably only one:

The Buffalo Sabres.

I think that Darcy's started to get better at jettisoning dead weight, he won't be back next season.

So glad this is his last year...you'd think he'd want to light it up

He is lighting it up, the trade button that is.

Darcy will be lucky if he can move him for a late pick. Nobody is going to want to pay the balance of his salary unless his production significantly improves.
