I have never said Tank ever. Their play can do that for them. All I'm saying is winning meanless games down the stretch with no chance at playoffs really hurts the team in the long haul.

Agreed. We sucked enough in 2002-2003 to get a higher pick, but still not enough to get the overall pick.

Saying that you hope the team doesn't win games down the stretch to improve their draft position is EXACTLY the same think as saying that you hope the team tanks to improve their draft position. It's the same damn thing. Both statements imply that a team is better off losing, which is absurd.

Well personally I would rather get an overall draft pick for once instead of holding my breath and doing the playoff math again. If they suck intentionally then I would be dissapointed but if they just sank to last place because they are honestly that bad I'd welcome the good pick and the rebuild this spring. None of this is tangible anyhow so I don't think anyone needs to be pissed off. The team will do what it does and any fan's "wishh" is no big deal, just a wish. Hell, I wish we picked up Chara, Pronger, Avery and Lucic......but it ain't gonna happen.

It's bigger than simply "rooting against" the team. I am tired of watching shit hockey and unless we dismantle this low talent team and rebuild, that's what we'll just continue to be fed. Would I rather them make the playoffs and do well? Fuck yes I would. Realistically though they just aren't good enough. I want a better team and a reason to root instead of simply waving my poms poms because it's expected. Also, no one is "rooting" against the Sabres. Again, realistically though doing poorly this season would be much better for our future than skimming by in ninth place. Kind of like suffering now for sucess in the long run. Disagree if ya want, it's just my opinion.

If you make this argument in July, that's one thing.

It's another one altogether to make it in December when the team is looking up at the playoffs. If you WANT the team to lose, you're rooting against them no matter which way you slice it.

Unless you're ready to play like shit for 3 or 4 seasons to stock top 5 picks, and are willing to suffer through that, then ok. But saying that after the team has played 35 games that you hope they lose a lot the rest of the way makes no damn sense. One draft pick does not turn a franchise around. Neither does giving up on the season in December.

I won't root for the team to lose, but I am at the point where I won't get upset at losses, because it does offer a better draft choice, which can be crucial(see Buffalo Bills).

a big +1. I would rather suffer now because this team isn't going anywhere with the injury to Roy and having garbage like Connolly and Rivet on the team.

A draft pick like that could certainly help. But I still don't think we should tank at all.

No-one is saying lose on purpose the team can do that on it's own. This team is scary bad anyways.
