The end result does not justify the original assertion as quality. Like going all in on 7-2 pre-flop. You might win, but that doesn't make it a good bet.
It wasn't anything like going all in on a 7-2 pre-flop to me. Maybe to you, because you see Leopold's value to this team differently than I do.
I'll give you the fact that, statistically, he appears to be crucial. He logs a lot of ice time and he's contributed a good amount offensively.
But he's no cornerstone. He doesn't bring a physical presence in our own end. He doesn't play the body often. As such, his defensive responsibilities can be delegated to others without too much of a shakeup.
That's exactly why the Sabres haven't struggled without him in the lineup. On the contrary, they've maintained the same level; perhaps even surpassed it.
So is he a nice piece to have? Sure. Should his absence worry fans? No.
Good points. He is more of a "nice piece" than a "cornerstone." He'd probably not be a -11 if he had Teppo's skill at positioning. WE never expected Teppo to mash a player into the boards, but he was in the right position all the time.
That's the way I see it, if you're not a "banger" who good are you at being in the right place like Teppo was. Then again, Teppo's not going to socre 13 goals.
