That sort of absolves the GM if it turns out to be a poor move. I just don't think you can heap praise (or blame) on a GM until the results start to come in to validate the risks you've taken, however exciting they may seem at the time they happen. I also think he is underappreciated for the things he has done over the years that have flown under the radar screen, including player drafting/development, re-signing Miller before he hit UFA, etc.
