Say what you want about their flaws as seperate entities but when these guys hit the ice they collectively form into a Megatron line. The scoring chances are far from few with these boys and its a matter of time before they start shoveling some goals in there. My question is why wouldn't we roll them in the 1 or 2 spot? They went against Marty and Vincents line several times last night and absolutely manhandled them.

I thought they played great last night. I hope Lindy keeps them together, I love watching them play.

Because that line as a collective whole isn't a number 2 scoring line. They are more of a shutdown put in the odd goal here and there line.

Gerbe on the otherhand is able to be a top forward, or at least play 2 line minutes better than those other two.

I guess that was probably my main point i was trying to convey. That line is just pesky as shit and I am not sure it's just odd goal here and there. They had a shitton of scoring chances last night, the goals will come.
Gerbe has put himself into the "top 6" talk. The boys makes plays, skates his balls off, is shooting the puck more, and forechecks like a monster. The points will come with time I have no doubts about that at all.

If you look at the Ice-time: Every forward not named Vanek, Pominville, Roy plays between 16 and 12 minutes. McCormick and Ellis are a bit lower between 6 and 9 minutes. If you don't count them, the top 11 forwards play between 13:40 and 11:25 on even-strength, so I don't think there is a big difference between the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th line. Maybe in the use Ruff has for them, but other than that, they are pretty much 4 equal lines.

I my mind, it is the Vanek line and the 3 others.

If they're playing a team like TB that's dropping back in a 1-3-1 or a 1-4 and forcing you to dump, chase and forecheck, then G-G-K is a good line to put out for extra minutes. Hecht-Ellis-McCormick-Boyes might be a better option as well. If you have to forecheck to generate scoring chances, then use a grinder line a little more. I wouldn't have any problem using the "bottom" two more in a game like that.

Totally agree. Gerbe is definately a top forward.

But that line is nothing more as you said a shut down line. If that was our #2 scorring line we'd be pretty bad. Plus this line was pretty good when they were together but really this was just in preseason games so you cannot really rate that line as to be a so called "Megatron" line.

Lol. I just want to see Gerbe get "promoted" is basically all I want. Little bastard got an extension and has stepped it up even more. Let him loose and see how he flies with playmakers.

Pffft, trade the bum for Stamkos. He's useless and overpaid.

;)

Yes, me too. But just calling the Kaleta-Goose-Gerbe line the "2nd line" isn't promoting Gerbe.

The force is strong with that one. He has the potential to be a gritty St. Louis.
