Another gaffe last night - closing minute, Miller pulled, and Sabres have only 5 guys on the ice for the faceoff in the Caps end.

I watched the video. 5 guys were on the ice for the faceoff (empty net). After they won it another player came on. It was another mistake and it was stupid.

I looked at the two faceoffs that occurred in the final minute, since that's what he said.

If that's true that at 18:55 they only had 5 on the ice, then yes, it's dumb, but it also happens all the time, so I don't think it's that big a deal as it's being made out to be.

When your net is empty, specifically so you can add an extra skater, and you don't add that skater...I would call that a pretty big gaffe from the bench.

It's funny cause it's true.

You usually get the extra skater on the ice when the goalie is only halfway to the bench. Not after he's been on the bench 40 seconds.

The really dumb thing is that there was a timeout prior to the faceoff, so i t wasn't a heat of the moment thing.

Oh, and I don't think these mistakes are that common, I haven't even seen something like that in the Austrian league where you don't have 4 coaches on the bench.

Word. And to have it happen 3 times in the first 5 games to Buffalo (including one 27 second span playing with 3 guys instead of 4) to me indicates a disturbing lack of focus from coaches.

And I agree that the incident from the Washington game was a major gaffe. Even in my street hockey league without coaches there's no way a team would pull the goalie and not get the extra player on at least by the time of the actual faceoff.

That could explain why his head hasn't been in the game.

At least then he'd have scored more than once.

Did anyone else notice that when Foligno was going to the net with like 5 seconds or less left, all 4(or5) other Sabres were at the blue line? I think ALL OF THEM should have just followed the puck hoping it bounced on their stick.

Also, can we hook a shock collar up to Miller's goal stick, so that if he tries to play the puck, he gets a shock??
