Lindy is actually keeping lines together. This is the biggest surprise of the season for me. I never thought I would see this as long as he was coaching. Through hot and cold, good and bad, line mates will become better with each other over time. Unless injury or one player completely tanks, this needs to continue.

First - after some time it makes it much easier to assess the production and value of each line/player.

Second - it makes each forward more accountable when they can't blame an off night on being juggled and switched.

Third - it creates some healthy competition between the lines.

I wonder if Lindy saw something with his summer coaching stint that changed his mind.

Funny thing: Consistency begets consistency...

Imagine that?

It helps with accountability too. You can criticize a whole line for not producing rather than specific players.

Let's see what happens when the Sabres lose two in a row.

06'-07'? Remember how huge of a deal it was when we finally lost two in a row... crazy to think that were only a few years removed from a president trophy.
This year gets me excited though, because our makeup has changed. We're a team (so far) that looks like its gonna make the playoffs as a middle of the pack team, but the big thing is... We're a gritty team that battles now. This team is made for the playoffs(but who knows how they'll preform once in them, with every other team turning to grit and sandpaper style hockey

Actually, right now we are on pace for winning the presidents trophy...

By the points and amount of games played, yes. But I'm skeptical until we play a Washington, Philadelphia or NYR. We haven't played any great competition so far. But the upside is most of our wins haven't even been close.

Special teams needs to be better as well.

This is true, but if you can remember last year, we played well against the good teams..

I can't wait to play Washington..

Yeah, I'm just reserving judgment for now. I think it's pretty common to ramp it up against your better opponents and give those games your best effort.

Hooray! My old brain can't keep track of musical lines.

(Remember, thou shalt not covet the CURSED President's Trophy.)

I don't want to see the Sabres win the President's Trophy ever again. Nothing good comes of bringing home that crystal bowl.
