After starting 8-1-1, the Buffalo Sabres have fallen back to earth, losing three of their last four. Many fans will find this reminiscent of last year’s fall from grace in November that saw the Buffalo club lose 8 of their 13 games that month. This team will need to get back on the wagon real soon if they hope to regain some of their momentum heading into the seemingly tougher month ahead.

This feels like marketing.

More back to back games this month then the next 4 combined.
Come on boys, get through this stretch. I hope they pull a 70% or better winning percentage this month, that should give them some breathing room.

Why are you all behaving like this toward him? Chris Roy from Maine Hockey Journal used to do the same thing on the old forums.sabres.com.

Beat me to it phil...not sure what the issue is here. Dude signed up, and posted a couple links to stories about the sabres. It's not like this site is offering content which these links compete with, i'm having trouble seeing what the problem is.

Well, it's a holdover from the old boards. We didn't allow people to just join up to pimp their personal websites or blogs. Those posts were deleted, and users disabled for TOS violations. Had this been the old boards, you would never have seen these posts.

Chris Roy was given special consideration as he was working with one of the few sites that covered the Portland Pirates, which obviously related directly to the Sabres. I recall that he asked for and was given permission, but I think that is before my mod days, so I can't really say for sure.

When your only posts on a board are quotes and links back to your personal blogs, it's called blogspamming. It's done to increase your search engine rankings mostly, but in the webhosting world it's also a form of traffic theft. User searches for something, the link off this website comes up. User clicks on it, loads this page, using the bandwidth that XC pays for. Then user clicks link to go to the blog, which is monetized up the ass with ads, and that person gets paid for the traffic, not XC. It's generally frowned upon.

We're just hoping that Patrick will contribute more to this site that just trying to drive traffic to his website.

Well, that answered my concern pretty heartily.
