I DVR'd the game and watched it again, pausing on every single shift for the VKG line.
Here is my assesment of what I observed.
Kennedy is intense, he has the ability to turn on a dime like Max had, but even more, he is so puck aware, he creates space for Vanek and Grier by his very ability to keep puck control along the boards, behind the net and in the corners. Also, on 7 of those shifts Kennedy went in to retrieve the puck as the second Sabre when another team mate was battling, creating scoring chances.
Grier and Vanek on every single shift this line was in the offensive zone were actually actively positioning themselves for the optimum shot zone. They continued to cycle through the positioning "consistently".
They were both feeding off of Kennedy's puck control ability.

Did anyone else notice this?

I've noticed Kennedy's good puck control along the boards. So long as he's got just a little bit of room. If the D manage to press him up against the glass, he's pinned. The guy's just too small. But give him a couple inches of breathing room and his agility allows him to spin away and create space to make plays.

Well Kennedy is a smaller player, 5'11 isn't too big, it's moreso just average.

But if he doesn't play in the corners, and has the puck he is great in the open ice.

It's like what Ruff said of him in one of those training camp videos, he has the ability to make his feet go one way, and his body go the other way. Something in which Ruff said he would have fallen if he tried that.

Scoring goals and stopping the opponents from scoring goals is what this team need to do...

I know it's a crazy idea, but it just might work..
