My first impression of Myers was "wow I know I'm being captain obvious here but he is really tall." My second impression was "I bet he hits his head on the car while trying to get in." I have yet to see any of the games so I can't say how he looks :( besides tall. I got a few more puns/bad jokes in me people. Don't worry, it's a long season and I don't want to use them all up now.

Btw which one was Mike Grier? People said I'd never be able to use that ever again when he left. Well look at me know jerks.

He looked like he "belonged". No forced passes. No giveaways or fuck-ups. Very poised. Smooth strides and crisp passes. Uses the boards well. Changes direction fast and with great confidence.

The Wings tried to forecheck him and pin him behind the net, more than a few times. He didn't bite. He avoided the man and sent off a nifty pass.

Grier didn't get much ice-time. But, he was scrappy and rough-and-tumble when he was out there. Caught himself a penalty for slugging someone after a late hit.

Awesome I love it.

Myers drives an SUV, big and roomy for him, He has to take out the drivers seat to drive though, he sits in the rear.

Not really it's actually a good rule because 19 is too young unless you are exceptional like a Crosby or OV.

Myers was simply born on the wrong side of a chronological "line" - No biggie.

The rule is meant to keep the "pro's" from poaching kids, right out of high-school - And that's not a bad thing. The "Juniors" gotta protect their turf.

I like it (in this instance) because it puts pressure on Myers to step up and make the big league, or go back down and simmer/stagnate.

It also puts pressure on Darcy to make The Big Decision - Rather than just sit on his damn thumbs, and play it safe, yet again.

I really want to see Gerbe and Myers stand right next to each other, I saw Gerbe standing next to Butler and Butler looked like a giant, he stood next to Roy and Roy looked like a tall guy.

Watching the game last night (it was my first chance to see him play) I thought he looked pretty comfortable out there against the big red machine. At times, his play around the net was a little sloppy I found (especially when he and 2 other sabres were flopping on the ice like fish out of water) but over all he moved the puck well coming out of the zone. The kid is only gonna get better with guys like Rivet, Montador & Co. on the blue line.

i disagree. you enter juniors at 16, sometimes even 15. at 19, the next step for well developed players is the AHL. sometimes its not. i am not positive myers should crack the top 6, and hes not going to develope in the press box as the a scratch. and being in the WHL another year isnt going to help him much either. AHL just seems like the best bet.

fuck it, loan him to a ECHL team.

Myers is going to dominate at some point. I just don't see enough coordination from him yet to do this now.

I think he'll end up back in Junior to develop his coordination.

This is one Gem that shouldn't be rushed.

I want to see him a couple more times before I sign off on this observation though.

To me, he appeared to be a lot more comfortable against the Wings.

The really intriguing thing for me is how good does Myers project to be by mid-season if he starts out as a 3rd pairing guy?

I don't think it would be rushing him to start him out at the 3rd pairing RD.

Now making him a top pairing guy that plays 25+ minutes a night is rushing him.
