Nothing very new in this article, but this is the second time that I've read about a certain player that didn't like getting chewed out after the Dec 26 3-2 loss in Washington last year. I watched the game but I don't remember anyone sticking out in my mind that stunk that game (more than usual).

Anyone know who that player is?

Well behind closed doors it could have been anyone, but I'm sure they are gone now.

The article is a bit ambiguous as to whether the player who "is gone" was the same player (or one of the players) who had needed to step up (accept criticism.)

The one who left was definitely Max. But, I'm sure there were other mumblings and grumblings on the team, that needed to be addressed.

Taro references always crack me up, as I know the Tsujimoto family. Nice family. The Sabres asked for their blessing before going with the gag....

That just reminded me that they picked the name by flipping through the phone book.

It is a common name in Japan; apparently. I just saw them last Thursday...

Game recap: http://www.buffalonews.com/490/story/533335.html

Hank?
Ovechkin gave the Capitals a 3-1 lead with 11:33 to go, and the Verizon Center went bonkers. The superstar skated past Sabres defenseman Toni Lydman out of the Washington zone and abused Henrik Tallinder. Ovechkin was on the defenseman's left and hopped to Tallinder's right by pushing the puck between the blue-liner's stick and skates.

Hecht?
"It was Jochen's job to make sure he took care of his man and didn't," Ruff said. "That hurt us the most. Jochen's got to do a better job on faceoffs. That's not good enough. I think he lost like seven in a row in the third period, and one of them cost us a goal."

Then, Ruff did this:

Have a Happy New Year, Jochen.

Good times. :(

Who knows who it was for sure. After reading this stuff, I don't wanna rehash last year any more and get depressed.

I'm just glad that they've addressed issues and are becoming accountable.

This could have been Kotalik as well, which is why he wasn't part of this team down the stretch last season. He got off to a quick start, but I do remember him being awful in that Washington game, perhaps he was the one who lost his damn mind.

Wouldn't really shock me.

Alice never gave the least indication she cared about the game on the ice; why would she care off the ice?

Kotalik was too busy designing hats, to worry about the level of his game...

He preferred to be a "renaissance man", rather than a brutish, one-dimensional Hockey player. :D

Last season + bad attitude = Afinogenov.

Lindy was not shy about his criticism of him. Max was pouting half the season. I felt sorry for him, myself, because I think he was going through a real depression. My husband works in Rite Aids and saw him twice last season at the pharmacy. He was done with this team and I think he wanted to leave. I miss him, but his departure was the best thing for everyone.

"Gone, he says, are the kids who never saw their own faults."

Not sure Lindy means literally gone. If so, it would narrow it down to a handful - Max probably being the one that stands out in that group.

If Lindy meant it figuratively, it could have been anyone still in the locker room with the exception of very few.

I hate to be "that guy," but I've been saying this was going to happen for the past 2 years.

And the only reason I say this is because people called me an idiot for it.
