It's become a huge joke in my apartment, with my friends who come over to watch the games, how it is always pominville who cannot achieve something.
I cannot even count the amount of times per game we hear RJ say:

"Pominville cant keep it in the zone"
"Just jumps over pominvilles stick"
"Pominville shoots wide of the net"
"Pominville shoots into the exact center of the goalies chest"
"Pominville loses the draw"
"Pominville unable to get the pass across"
"Pominville unable to...(insert any hockey phrase)"

It's become this huge joke, the dude has so many primo chances and invariable whiffs, shoots wide, panics, gets shoved off the puck, shoots it into a guy, gets beaten, just...sucks. Dude sucks.
I'm so freaking tired of his absurd playing time, seeming indifference and wildly uninspired focus and execution.

and yes, I know he's got a healthy amount of assists, and is fourth on the team in points...but still, I dont care, our top six is no group to be using as a reference at this point. Dudes making what, 5 mill a year? Is some relatively good PK and pretty good backchecking all we get for 5 million dollars?

lol this is getting ridiculous.

Lets make a thread bashing each and every one of our top 6. That'd be awesome.

Maybe, maybe not. He's got to be doing something right.

My guess:

1) doing exactly what ruff wants him to do, system-wise. Which is a good thing generally, for people with talent.
2) making oodles of money, we've seen overpaid players get undeserving icetime in the past, no?

J.P. was definitely a finisher.

But Pominville is much better defensively.

And less likely to be retired in 5 years. I like the long term approach, but don't talk about the money.

Here's the thing....

He's on the first year of a 5 year deal. GM's generally don't sign players for that long and then trade them first year of the deal. Thats just bad business. You think its difficult trying to get players to come to Buffalo now?

We're stuck with Pommers for a couple years. He pretty much becomes tradable once his deal is down to 3 or 2 years.

He'll get better on the offensive side of things.

In the meantime, he does a great job playing the system. He wins games.

JP dumont has one of the worst +/- in sabres history.

Pominville is 3rd on the team in points and a +3.

Maybe we all need some Pominfaith. Kids on his first year in a long deal, getting used to a new defensive system. He's just getting ready for his prime, so I'm not willing to give up on him yet.

Even if he does make me facePom every 2 seconds.

So why should we care if Pominville can win a faceoff, last I remember he WASN'T a CENTER.

I don't. JP doesn't play defense.
