Past 12 games - .890 GAA, 4+ goals given up in 6 of those games...

What is it?

1) Crappy defense
2) Groin still hurt?
3) Too tired from starting 16 games in a row?
4) Fiancee too much of a hottie?

Seriously, he looks a step slower and out of position more than he did last year, commits to the shooter too early and seems to have lost his vision of the ice with communication breakdowns with defensemen. Getting smoked on 2-on-1s. I think he needs to be spelled for a couple games. Let JE get some work and develop a little bit.

Here is my take on Miller. Last year people Miller was extremely motivated to being USA starting goaltender. I don't know if he worked extra hard in the summer or what but whatever he did he was great. Then after the olympics his game sort of tailed off. And he hasn't looked like the same goalie since. His playoff performance was sub-par and it's carried into this season. The only games he's looked good this season was the couple of games were he had shutout's and he looked like the Miller of last year.

Yeah, It's pretty clear miller is not in his 'superstar' mode so far this year.

Which makes the CONSTANT 'degree deodorant' commercials even more obnoxious. No, he will NOT always be ready at any given moment, clearly. now please stop jamming him and your deodorant down my throat.

Now that I've punched a few innocent kittens over that bullshit fiancée comment, this is how I see it.

- Defense isn't doing that good a job covering the backside and rebounds. Since they're not, Miller is trying to make the save AND clean up the trash, and doing too much.

- The time off from the groin injury hurt his routine. I also don't think he's fully healed from that injury, but that's just a guess.

- He's being hung out to dry on a lot of odd-man rushes due to defensive mistakes.

A .926 save % over 6 games was subpar? Really?

Miller was not the problem in that series. The lack of offense was.

Yeah.

But I disagree about his groin injury. He just isn't a focused and determined this season, for whatever reason.

But he'll come out of it.

Eh, maybe I did, and a collapse just makes sense to me now.

I think I was more optimistic about the team in front of him when I made that comment, too.

Last year was a fluke. Miller is no super star.

*waits for inevitable flaming to commence*

Something's off. But the whole team is just bad right now, so it's going to affect Miller's game. Goaltending is a team position in a sense. Last year, Miller was the best goalie in the league, and it wasn't a coincidence that his game improved significantly because of the team around him.

Yeah, I really don't think Miller's motivation is the problem. And he wasn't sub-par in the playoffs.

I would also guess his groin is still hurting - just doesn't seem as fluid in net. Those injuries are tough to heal without extended rest.

I would counter Fly that the team feeds off of his great play more than he feeds off them. He's the only consistent game changer and star on this team, but not this year.

I really just think he's not 100% healthy. He's probably been playing hurt for a lot of this season. He's also being played way too much. Just call up Enroth and let him play for fuck's sake!

This is why I hate putting 6.25 million dollars into it.

I don't question Miller's motivation, or preparation. I think the injury is worse that we were led to believe.

People have been asking the same questions this year about Ovechkin.
