The chains have started coming off, apparently.

I guess we couldn't even get a low draft pick for him?

Who will our next captain be? I guess we'll find out this offseason.

Long shot Vancouver could snag him, just based on the pile of injuries they have, but I doubt it.

I'd wonder if this is a precursor to a buyout. Not to save money, since their isn't much to be saved now, but to release a guy that isn't doing anything but eating press box hot dogs.

Are we possibly freeing up cap space for something?

Saves less than $1M by now. Doesn't so much.

Wow, I'm shocked. I mean, I know he wasn't really contributing much, but it's just surprising to see a captain be put on waivers.

Looks like I'm going to have 2 blank jerseys and some extra number kits to distribute for new jerseys. Hopefully someone worth a jersey wears #5.

Now I'm curious as to who takes the "C". If he's claimed, does Lindy go with the rotating leader? Or 3 "A"'s for the rest of the season?

Eh who cares. He really wasn't SUPPOSED to be our captain, it's not like we placed someone decent on waivers... At least we can have a new, functioning captain.

Well, if we're going by daily numbers, Craig's $3.5M is prorated down just as much as anybody else's is.

We get $7.8M (yearly) in cap space if he clears/get's picked up.

what do you mean he wasn't supposed to be our captain? the players voted for him. Apparently he was a good voice in the locker room. Unfortunately, skill wise he just isn't where we need him to be and he can't really help us out on the ice anymore. I think this is a good move to make, but I too am wondering where the C will go. I hope they don't do rotating captains again.

He's hurt, old, and not a good defensemen. It wasn't logical to keep him as captain, so now he's not. Sorry I really didn't choose a good choice of words.

They already have enough cap space to take on over $17M in cap hits at the deadline. I think they're probably good there.
