TheScore.com seems to think so, and actually has hard numbers to prove it. Those numbers are staggering, by the way.

Read the article here.

TheScore.com, I wholeheartedly agree with you that Patty Kaleta is the best pest :D

Staggering is right - BTW thanx for the link, Phil. Awesome.

If the Sabres had a powerplay to speak of, his contributions would be immense. We may be talking in the range of 8-10 more (close) games won, each season.

The kid is rough-and-tumble, and grit, and heart, and spark-plug, all rolled into one.

I have nothing but admiration for a Hockey player who can actually play Hockey, and isn't afraid to get his "hands dirty".

He also takes a beating for his effort, and has the maturity, presence of mind, team spirit and discipline not to retaliate.

This kid is money, to his very bones.

I also admire that he's not the douchebag that Avery, Lapierre, Orr, Cote, and both Ruutu's are...

He gets back as good as he puts out. And doesn't whine.

BIG MONEY.

Something tells me there'd be some serious "Seven Dirty Words" moments with Patty being mic'd up.

One does not simply mic into Pattymouth.

An epic shop begs to be made.

OH SNAP at those stats. I did not know that he was that good, though I should have guessed from seeing the lists from the past couple season of the players that drew the most penalties per minute of ice time with Kaleta at the top, followed immediately thereafter by Sidney Crosby, followed by all the other huge names in the league. He's also always been at the top for penalties drawn versus penalties taken, and the rest of that list is typically more or less in the same order as the first.

I still think he's the MVP on this team, as much as I did the day he was first called up.

Cool article, but none of us will be surprised by the conclusion. He is irreplaceable.

On the old boards, this would be a GREAT article since we had some serious Kaleta haters there. On here it just drives home the point that Pat brings something to this team that we have never seen....an amazing amount of power play opportunity. Now, they need to make their power play a force to be recon with (I know, a man can dream) and we'd be unstoppable.

He never gave direct stats anyways.

What he said was Kaleta draws an extra few penalties for the team, and team's average a certain amount of drawn penalties.

If they would have told you how many the team draws compared to Patty, they could be off.

And don't forget, 98% of all statistics are made up.

Well, he did use hard facts. It just took some compiling to work.
