I think that's what our team is lacking. Like the Penguins got Billy Guerin last year, that's what we need, except someone who can put in the net more than Guerin. The Penguins were looking for that one piece to fit in with their stars, and it helped lead them to Lord Stanley.

IMO, if we don't get that, we're going nowhere this year. We need a veteran that's been there. We need a guy we can count on to score when no one else is, and we need a guy that will score in clutch situations.

Ideas?

I think if vanek connolly pomminville and roy were doing their jobs, we'd need nothing else to have a successful team.

We need much better play from our top 2 lines, especially on PP and SH situations. Stafford and Vanek are trying to outdo one another for the Uninspired Player of the Year award, Connolly cannot seem to convert open goal scoring chances and still forces extra passes into traffic, Roy is improving on offense and regressing on defense, and MacArthur is falling asleep in his own end and on the backcheck.

On the third line, Hecht is back in his slumber, Grier is still Grier in the corners but is not getting it done on the PK, and Kennedy needs someone on the line to pass to that can score a fucking goal...he's on an island with the puck right now.

I dont think this point can be over-emphasized, this kid is showing GREAT setup and playmaking ability, and surprisingly neither grier nor hecht are taking advantage.

wasnt Grier suppose to fill that role?

Kennedy has the talent to be on the top 2 lines, as a winger or a center. Maybe we could put Pominville on the 3rd line, and put Kennedy with Connolly or Roy.

No. He's supposed to be a leader, and let guys know they need to get it going, or else. He's not going to score more than 10-15 goals a year. We need a top 6 forward sort of forward.

We need a guy on our top 2 lines to do what Myers did for the back end, and for Tallinder. We need a guy up front that will give these lines a burst of life with some raw grit and talent.

I've been saying for a while now, that most of our goals in earlier games this season were well screened shots from the blueline/tip-ins, rebounds and lucky bounces and blind shots that goalies normally get (outside of a decent looking goal or play here and there of course). Eventually we would stop lucking out, those blind twisting shots wouldn't go in, better defensemen would block those slapshots and clear the rebounds. What can we do?

Well, we need a guy that can actually deke through a defensemen or two (not just Myers!), rather than just dumping it in, rushing in (usually not getting it) and blindly hurling it backwards to the front of the net right to opposing defensemen... or not relying solely on Ellis and our 4th line to keep it in the zone and create chances without cycling the puck for 5 minutes first. We need guys who can actually make a couple of nice passes on the rush and just leave a goalie dumbfounded. It's there sometimes, but not nearly enough. We can't rely on passes getting knocked in accidentally off of the opposing defensemens skates forever (reference to one of Vaneks goals this season).

I think the biggest problem is this team has a lot of trouble just keeping the puck on their sticks. Even on the rush out of our zone with no forecheckers around they're tripping and falling, fanning on passes and in general losing the puck. A little coordination can go a long way when it comes to capitalizing on opportunities.

Though I could be entirely wrong, I usually suck at criticizing hockey lol.

I think i've been posting on this for weeks now. And yes Timbo Slice, I agree completely.
However, shifting the current roster around with the same players is not going to cut it.
We need scoring talent in here, a clutch player, geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzz, this sounds so familiar.......but atleast people are starting to see it now. This is a good thing, not a bad thing. Bringing in that talent will cost the Sabres......but what? or who?
Tallinder's stock is up this year, plus his contract, he could be a part of a package deal to get someone in hear. But who will we bring in and from where?

Many questions only exist on the who to bring in side. We already know who we can ship out. So the real question is, who do we bring in and on what line do they fit?

Keith Tkachuk? Someone like that? That was the first name that I thought of.

Hecht is our barrier...we cannot afford a $3.5 million bench warmer, but we also can't afford a guy taking up space who can't hit, can't score and doesn't provide any leadership. His spot in the lineup would ideally be filled by a speed guy with a scoring touch...Tyler Ennis?

Na

Na

We need someone like Bowser!! :D

Actually I think we do - we have Roy AND Connolly, IMHO, in order to be successful, we can live with either one or the other, but we need a big, strong, center on ONE of the top two lines.

My two sense
